Fox Fall Preview – Sort Of
By Lisa Fary
I’m going to be doing a lot of reading this next TV season.
On Fox, Fringe is coming back, as is Dollhouse. There are a couple of new shows coming, mostly sitcoms that hold no interest for me whatsoever. There’s very little change in the air with the Fox schedule. So, for the 2009-2010 preview, I’m only talking about the new shows that I’m interested in.
At Fox, there is only one.
Human Target.
I haven’t read the comics, but I like Mark Valley. And Chi McBride (I love you, Emerson Cod!). And Jackie Earle Haley. Also, the first face in the first clip I saw is Tricia Helfer, who I also like (I really hope she gets steady work because she’s much better than she’s given credit for). Add executive producer McG, who brought us Chuck and Supernatural, and I’m on board already.
Enough about me. Here are some clips.
That could be kinda awesome.
OK, I lied. I am going to say one thing about one other Fox show: Sons of Tucson.
Really, Fox? You’re going to put the name of the city in the title of the show and then make no effort to make the place look like Tucson? Tucson doesn’t look like an LA suburb, OK?

Lisa Fary’s early exposure to classic Battlestar Galactica in 1979 is largely responsible for her lifelong interest in science fiction and her childhood ambition of being an intergalactic space cowgirl. She thinks diagramming sentences is a fun alternative to Sudoku.

I've never been a fan of Mark Valley (aka Reckless Square-Jawed Hero Guy, TM), but the supporting cast is interesting enough that I'll give the show a few episodes to see if it can win me over. Although… they couldn't come up with a more interesting premise for their premiere episode than thwarting an attempted murder on a high-speed train? A plot used by both Under Siege 2 and a third season episode of seaQuest? Really?
When in doubt, turn to a crappy Steven Segal movie!
