I’d never really considered that heroes have to endure all the crappy parts of childhood – just like the rest of us – before they grow up and do their heroic stuff. Exhausted parent working double shifts? Check. Schoolyard bullies? Check. Getting thrown in the dumpster (or locker or trash can) by said bullies? Check. Befriending a time-slipping janitor who hands over a pendant that allows the wearer to stop time? Ummmm. . not so much. But, I suppose that’s the difference between heroes and the rest of us.
