2007 was the year I got beat up by TV. There was so much to watch, much of which only made me angry. I fell in love with a pie maker, broke up with Jack Shepherd and then had the best new show - Journeyman - killed off too soon (damn you, NBC!). The WGA strike ended the TV season early, which was upsetting, but when shows started running out, I felt unexpectedly free. Read more »

I hate Christmas episodes. I have nothing against this so-called wonderful time of year, but most TV shows seem obligated to riff on Capra or Dickens, or the entire half-hour/hour becomes about the claustrophobia of family gatherings, like a postcard from hell reminding you what to look forward to in week’s time. As you’ve probably heard by now, Journeyman is teetering on the brink of cancellation. With fellow NBC shows Life and Chuck receiving reprieves at the guillotine, Kevin Falls’ increasingly smart, dynamic, and just damn good show has yet to be renewed, and rumors of its fate resting on this two-part episode’s ratings have continued to circulate over a week after it aired. All that’s known for sure is that we’ll see Dan Vasser’s journey continue for three more episodes before - potentially - NBC pulls the plug. And to that I say: fie. Read more »
