At one point, when considering what to write for this review, I had a big long conversation with myself about the difference between an alternate universe (AU) and an alternate timeline (AT). This was in the car on my way home from a meeting, and I’d had far too much caffeine and since the meeting was so boring, I found myself obsessing about the difference, and I had planned (based on all that caffeine) to write at length about it. Luckily for everyone, I had the sense to google it, and I can cut to the chase and say that the difference is this: an AU exists alongside the original universe, and an AT is the original universe but where something different happened.
