Ameircan Idol Season 10: Bring On The Suck

Once we get to the “show” it’s clear by now that you can’t have every season with a Jennifer Hudson or a Chris Duaghtry but then again they didn’t actually win did they? As we get underway to the part everyone enjoys , it’s hard to imagine American Idol sustaining success for another few seasons when it has become less and less about the talent and more and more about the show and and marvelous marketing opportunities it offers Fox in terms if viewers, commercial advertising and merchandising and sponsorship. Shake your fist and yell and say nasty to things to me all you want, answer me this — you may have remembered last season with all it’s up and downs but when is the last time in the past year since he won, that you heard, saw or thought about Lee Dewyze?

NBC, Please Stop Trying So Hard

With a fragmented TV landscape, DVRs and Netflix to deal with, it’s a tough call for any network these days as to what they should really invest in. As proven with last year’s Superbowl and shows like Idol and DWTS, the live events are the ones that are really garnering the massive views while the regular dramas and comedies vie for the capricious whims of the viewing public who have too much to choose from on any given night. Not every network can have a watershed show like Glee but at least they can try to do some more creative programming that what NBC is currently doing.
