Am I the only one who was tickled by vampire cuisine? Carbonated, cruelty-free blood with citrus notes. Rose petal infused blood bisque. Blood sorbet. And here I thought vampire cuisine was all about biting the necks of free range humans. I wonder if the king’s consort has considered putting out a Martha Stewart-esque lifestyle quarterly.

Ah, Sookie. You’re the protagonist of this whole thing. Why do I have so much trouble with you? Perhaps it’s because you are so inconsistent. Of all the characters on True Blood, she is the most poorly defined, and seems to switch personalities faster than Jason switches sex partners. She loves Bill, she despises Bill, she loves him again, but not really. She’s strong, intelligent, and has a backbone of steel, or she’s a ditzy girly-girl thinking about nothing other than her romance with Bill.

I’d like to be able to write something coherent about this season three premiere of True Blood, but whenever I try to string together a sentence, I’m thwarted by Eric Northman’s butt. And Bill’s hairy, shirtless chest. And Sam’s hairy, shirtless chest. How am I supposed to concentrate when all that is out there?

I sit here in mourning. This has been the first Sunday in weeks that my housemates and I haven’t been able to get together to watch the one television show that everyone in the house loves. This Thanksgiving weekend, as each of us went to different destinations to spend the holiday, I’m sure of one thing. Somewhere, in our deepest heart of hearts, we were all giving thanks for True Blood.

Before getting to the episodes, I have to say that True Blood has one of the most interesting and effectively used soundtracks on television. Recently, I created a Pandora Internet Radio station that I called “True Blood Radio” built by using the artists and songs listed on the True Blood website, and it’s something I can leave on all day. You should try it!

It seems I missed a week in my True Blood reviewing. Sorry about that. It’s just as well, though, since there wasn’t anything particularly exciting about Episode 4 of True Blood, “Escape From Dragon House.” (And I will give a nice, firm pat on the back to anyone who can explain this title to me)

I’m a sucker for vampires. (Oh, come on!) If zombies are a way for us to examine ourselves as we are, to see what lazy sheeple we’ve become, vampires are a way for us to examine what we want to be – powerful, immortal, and really, really hot.
