Supernatural: Dead Men Don’t Wear Plaid

By Sylvia Bond – It is a dark and stormy night. Lightning flickers over a deserted graveyard, when suddenly, two hands push out of the earth, followed by the head of a man whose skin is textured by decomposition. He pushes himself up and out, because he’s got things to do and places to be. And thus is introduced the long-awaited, post-hiatus zombie episode!

Me and My Two Minds

By Sylvia Bond – The announcement has come down that the CW has picked up Supernatural for a sixth season. If you can’t take my word for it, ask the CW. Or go ask anyone in the Supernatural fandom and they will tell you all about it, the reasons why it’s good, and the reasons why it’s bad. They’ll tell you how they’re so happy they can’t breathe, and can’t wait for the next season because it’s going to be perfect, while the same time they hope and pray that the opening title images are changed to something more suitable. Then there are the fans who are rolling their eyes and are planning on changing the channel the second Season Five is over, on account of it won’t matter any more, since Show will be preparing to jump the shark for real this time.

Supernatural: My Bloody Valentine

By Sylvia Bond – Both Sam and Dean are ridiculously pretty in this episode. I wanted to say that up front in case in the throes of discussing various things that I forget to mention it. Not that I would ever forget to see it, you understand, but it was one of the things that struck me about this episode. Not that the boys are ever not pretty, but this time around, there was something about the lighting and the makeup and (oh my yes) the hair that I haven’t seen this perfect in a while so I was rather blown away by the ridiculously ridiculously pretty boys.

Supernatural: The Song Remains The Same

By Syliva Bond – This episode is a wonderful reprise of the Back to the Future theme for Show, except that it starts out with a long, boring conversation between Anna Banana and the Soap Angel. Anna Banana says, “Yap, yap, yap!” and the Soap Angel goes, “Blah, blah, blah.” That repeats a few times and then Anna Banana disappears, and good riddance to her. (There was a dream sequence for Dean as well, but all it was was an opportunity to have two nearly nekked nubile young female things on the screen, but who cares about that? Get me some nekked nubile young MALE things on the screen and then I’ll be interested.)

Supernatural: Swap Meat

By Sylvia Bond – In the midst of searching for Lucky and stopping the apocalypse, the boys tend to get tangled up in odd, little hunts like they do this week, which I’ll admit I prefer to the bigger story arc. I mean, we know how it’s going to end when Show’s over, don’t we? Either everyone lives, or someone will die (and it better not be Sam or Dean!), or everyone dies (Sam and Dean at the same time, rather than leaving either to suffer alone), and in the meantime, I have to suffer through the whole angels and demons mess.

Supernatural: Sam, Interrupted

By Sylvia Bond – I pretty much think that Thursday will be forever stamped into my night as being Supernatural-and-Sam-is-tied-up night. People know not to call me, even when it’s hiatus time. (But they still do; I’ve learned not to answer the phone.)

Supernatural: Abandon All Hope

What? No Kiss for Sammy? – by Sylvia Bond – The ep starts out with a fat cat banker making a deal with a crossroads demon. In the middle of the day yet, and under a busy underpass somewhere in the Big City. What makes this deal interesting is not the deal itself, as I imagine that there are quite a number of CEOs, right this VERY minute, making the very same deal, to save their banks and their retirement funds and their own cigar-puffing-lardo behinds. What makes the mark in this scene is the male-on-male kissing. With tongues and everything.

Supernatural: The Real Ghostbusters

Because That’s What Sam and Dean Would Do – By Sylvia Bond – When I first heard about this ep, that it would be about Sam and Dean at a Supernatural convention, I was a little freaked. You see, there are entertainer-based conventions where the point is to pay a lot of money, see your favorite Live and In Person, and then stand in line a lot so you can get your 30-second photo op and time enough to try and blurt out something memorable.

Supernatural: Changing Channels

By Sylvia Bond – I will start off by saying that I believe the whole “Trickster is really the Archangel Gabriel” thing was retconned, because there was no indication in “Tall Tales” (the first ep where he appeared) that the Trickster was anything other than the Trickster. As for “Mystery Spot” (one of the few bright, er, spots of Season 3), the Trickster seemed to be taking an interest in the boys, yes, but there was nothing overly angelic there, either.

Supernatural: The Curious Case of Dean Winchester

By Sylvia Bond – I get it, I do, that sometimes a show will have an off week, an episode that didn’t go exactly according to plan, and I’m willing to adjust my expectations to the reality that is. But this week, the ep that Show produced was so very disappointing on so many levels, I came away feeling like I’d been gob smacked. My friend in Alaska always says to me, “You should watch Show with lower expectations and turn off your brain, and that way, it’ll be more fun for you when it sucks.”

Supernatural: I Believe the Children are Our Future

By Sylvia Bond – As plots go, this one was pretty cool, on account of it involved a whole bunch of urban legends come to life, including the fact that pop rocks and Coke combined will burn the lining of your stomach, that itching powder will cause you to scratch your brains out, and, last but not least, that if you make an ugly face, your face will freeze that way! Isn’t it wonderful? Remember when you were young enough to actually believe that load of bull? (Except for the pop rocks and Coke thing, that one’s totally true.)

Supernatural: Fallen Idols

You Say “Fan” Like It’s a Bad Thing by Sylvia Bond Supernatural Episode Review – Season 5, Episode 5 “Fallen Idols” Sam’s Samhair is pushed off his forehead this week, which means that all is not well with the boy, emotionally or mentally. Physically he’s as fine as always, all boyishly confounded and uncertain of [...]
