V: Uneasy Lies the Head

V-Season-2-Episode-8-Uneasy-Lies-the-Head

I can’t talk about this episode without mentioning Hobbes and Erica’s angsty hookup. And why would I? It was the most compelling part of the episode. It was so compelling that V’s usual bout of illogic and absurdity didn’t concern me.

Smallville: Fortune

For a mainly filler episode this was kind of fun, and I enjoyed the breaking up of all the serious badness. Which I am sure there is going to be plenty of next week.

No Ordinary Family: No Ordinary Proposal

Redemption is a dish that, unfortunately, may not be served cold, but is likely eaten cold. Joshua wanted redemption, craved it, did an about-face for love when he fell for Katie in his quest to do his (surrogate) father’s bidding. But the truth is, he’d done too much against the Powells, and Katie, and that was going to (eventually) be his undoing. And so that warm helping of redemption he was taking a stab at biting into? Elusive, right now.

V: Birth Pangs

Turns out that the Visitors are extracting the highest quality DNA to insert into Tyler’s blank DNA spaces so when breeding occurs (ew, it’s as gross to type it as it is to hear it from Anna), the next generation of Visitors will be zillions of years more advanced.

The Cape: The Lich (Part Two)

The Lich intends to marry Orwell against her will. This didn’t work out well for Snidely Whiplash back in his day, so what makes this guy think it’s a good idea in the 21st century?

Smallville: Masquerade

By Aden Penn With the VRA out of the way, there is now room in Smallville for bigger and better villains. Sorry I know it is kind of a popular plot point, and all of that but there are so many other awesome avenues to explore in this universe. And I tend to be in [...]

V: Siege

This episode shook things up in the simplest of ways, by showing the audience negative consequences and multiple casualties as a result of the choices the Fifth Column made, specifically the impromptu hostage holdup in a warehouse full of explosives. Neat.

No Ordinary Family: No Ordinary Powell

Family has always been the center for this show (in glaring view in the title), but I also want more of the badassness. They have powers, they are SUPER, and they should definitely get to be allowed to indulge in that – not manipulatively the way Daphne has been with her new ability to put thoughts in people’s minds – but in actually just going in there and helping, at cost of exposure, but also at benefit of making a difference only they can.

The Cape: The Lich (Part One)

I wish I could tell you what this episode was about, but I’m not exactly sure. The Lich is plotting to spray the attendees of the Founder’s Day Parade with his “Serpent and the Rainbow” cocktail. I guess it’s so he can take control of these people when they come to, but cult indoctrination doesn’t work that way.

Smallville: Beacon

Instead of cheese and schmoop, Beacon opens with a healthy dose of dramatic tension. Tess seems to be at the center of the tension. Accused of censorship by a very incensed Lois she discovers that someone approved some rather vicious articles. When he tries to get away and walks into her office Lionel is sitting in her chair.

Starbucks in Starbucks

by Juliana Weiss-Roessler How does this photo exist since Dirk Benedict is notorious for hating how Ron Moore reimagined (or, as he refered to it, “unimagined”) the original Battlestar Galactica series ? He even derisively referred to Katee Sackhoff’s version of the character as “Stardoe.” Related Stuff:

V Review: Concordia

Concordia was great mainly because there is nothing like a good “fancy party” episode. What do I mean by that? If you notice in a lot of mystery, science fiction (unless it takes place in space or what not), and action-based TV programs, there is always at least one episode where something crazy goes down at a gala, benefit, or some lavish shindig at a mansion.

No Ordinary Family: No Ordinary Double Standard

Offering a play by play of the episodes has become a tad tedious for a show that plays by the rules (for the most part). I can only say so many times at the end of my reviews “wish they’d done this, why won’t they do that, that was kinda cool”. Also, if you’re reading this, it’s highly likely you’ve seen what happened. So I’m streamlining my recap and reviews. Hopefully, like the new opening, it’ll just get us sooner to the good stuff.

The Cape: Goggles and Hicks

The villain du jour in this episode is actually a team. Goggles is a sociopathic paraplegic geeky fellow who gathers intelligence for his brother Hicks, a sociopathic mobile assassin. Together they make quite the serial killer, uploading their information on their targets onto individual flash drives and storing them away in a morbid collection like Dexter Morgan’s blood slides.
