Lost: What Kate Does

By Lisa Fary

I almost didn’t go to the beverage store yesterday even though Snowpocalypse 2 was on its way. I was happy to endure the snow and stuck-indoorsedness armed only with hot tea, my iPod and a book. But, then I remembered. It was Tuesday. Which meant it was Lost day. Which meant I’d need a little helper during or after the show.

Caprica: Reins of a Waterfall

By Lisa Fary – Looks like Caprica will be providing us with a different PSA each week. The last ep’s message was that families suck. This week’s Caprica PSA was this: Harassment: It Makes Everyone Feel Like $h!t

Smallville: Absolute Justice

By Lisa Fary – That’s what I want from my superheroes. Costumes. Super powers. Super powered toys and accoutrements. Fighting bad guys because it’s the right thing to do. Sure, it gets ya down and, sometimes, you lose people, but you’re the only one who can do it.I want my heroes heroic, shoving down their feelings until they wake up in the middle of the night with acid reflux, just like me.

Lost: Season 6 Premiere

By Lisa Fary – I can’t get behind ankh mail. What an effing inefficient way to send a message. Although, some genius at the post office right now is thinking, “THAT’S WHAT WILL SAVE US!” I suppose it would be fun to send progress reports and truancy notices via ankh mail. That way, when someone says, “I had no idea Snowflake skipping!” I can say, “Really? You didn’t notice a three foot ankh on your porch?”

Heroes: The Wall

By TrinityVixen – Between Bennet having been turned into a Company man by having his wife and unborn kid unceremoniously ‘fridged and his having originally hit on Sandra because Eric Roberts ordered him to, I’m not only not excited, I’m rocking in a corner, near unto tears. All so that Claire can find a reason not to trust her dad again. LA LA LA CAN’T HEAR YOU, HEROES.

Five Questions Lost had Better Answer

By Lisa Fary – As much as I bitch and moan about Lost, I’m still invested. That said, Lost owes me some bloody answers before it ends for good. Since the Lost team knew the end was due a few years ago, I’m sure that there will be many questions answered in this last season. But, here are five things I’d like to know.

Caprica: Rebirth

By Lisa Fary – I disparaged the existence of Caprica when it was announced last year. Since I always want quality television, I’m happy to say that I was wrong about this series back then. “Rebirth” was really good; I’m talking season one BSG/Heroes/Lost good. It’s already far more intellectually demanding than BSG ever was; hopefully that won’t damn the show to a single season existence.

Heroes: The Art of Deception

By TrinityVixen – Glad to see that ol’ Petrelli survival instinct is still sharp as ever. We’ll catch up on the homoerotic reunion between Peter and Sylar next week. For all that Matt’s maneuver is stolen explicitly from both Neil Gaiman’s Sandman and Edgar Allen Poe’s “The Cask of Amontillado,” it was a genius little bit of thinking outside of the conventional box for this show.

Buffy for Beginners 4.17: Superstar

by Sabrina Boyer – That’s right folks. Jonathan is a SUPA-STAH! Okay. I suppose I waited so long to write this review of this episode because, and I don’t know if this is okay with you other Buffy fans, I pretty much despise this episode. It’s my LEAST favorite, hands down. Even more so than Bad Eggs from season two.

Caprica Rising: Report from the Syfy Set Tour

By WorldofHiglet – Dr. Graystone (it’s important I remember he’s a DOCTOR – more on this later) also has his secret lab under the house. Okay, it’s not technically a secret, but since he is meddling in things he doesn’t understand, secret sounds better. The lab is suitably impressive and includes a beautifully scary cylon-prototype. And yes, I did have a picture taken next to it but sadly it didn’t come out. And no, it didn’t whisper “By your command” when I asked it for spoilers.

Caprica Countdown – Day 1

By WorldofHiglet – There is a long-running debate about whether religion and science-fiction have any business together. Religion was woven into the fabric of BSG and it will be with Caprica, too, and I think it adds a welcome dimension to the characters and story-telling.

Heroes: Pass/Fail

By TrinityVixen – As with Vanessa’s story, there’s a moment where Claire recognizes that Sylar is a freakbag and tells him what is and is not ever going to happen for him. Then she pours her heart out to him (albeit unknowing) and doesn’t punish him for using her, for stealing her confidence and abusing her body. In fact, things are better than ever now that she can be Gretchen’s girlfriend. The fact that this development unites two sexist clichés—making women gay for ratings and the meme that abuse is good for you—is a new low for this show.

Caprica Countdown – Day 2

By WorldofHiglet – One of the exciting aspects of the pilot being released so far ahead of the series is that it has given plenty of time to imagine where things might be headed and what little twists we might see on the way. So, for instance, I have an interesting sub-plot relating to the young William Adama and his daggett that runs around my head from time to time.

Caprica Countdown – Day 3

By WorldofHiglet – There is another angle that is hinted at but not explored in depth in the pilot. What about the friendship between Zoe, Lacy and Ben? How did they meet? Why is their relationship so strong – is it because of their shared experiences in the V Club?

Dollhouse: The Hollow Men

By Sonia Aurora – We’ve now reached the penultimate Dollhouse episode, and one of the best of the series. I have to admit that while I had some reservations, I honestly felt choked up at the end, especially that though it answered some more questions, and I was upset by one specific turn of events, I felt that this is indeed coming to an appropriate close. While we won’t be sure until the last episode, I am glad I stuck it through.

Caprica Countdown – Day 4

Caprica Countdown – Day 5

By WorldofHiglet – Caprica is separate, but related to, Battlestar Galatica, as Mark Stern, executive vice president of original content for Syfy and co-head of Universal Cable Productions, said at the Caprica Press Tour. Over the Four Seasons of BSG the true nature of the Cylons (and everything else, for that matter) was hinted at, picked over and teased apart until the final reveal. And yet…so many things still unknown.
