The SciFi Channel knows that Battlestar Galactica is its meal ticket. To get us ready for the BSG movie, Razor, SciFi is airing “Razor Flashbacks” – two minute segments about young Admiral Adama during the first Cylon war. We thought that a two minute spot in some random place in a steaming pile doesn’t really [...]

When I was a kid, I didn’t think it got any dreamier than Dirk Benedict as Starbuck. I also thought that Jimmy Carter was solely responsible for canceling the original Battlestar Galactica and was ten before anyone told me otherwise. Luckily, when I grew up, I took civics classes and got cable, which obliterated my [...]

Well, it’s not true. Not according to the producers. From Sci-Fi Wire: “Contrary to comments by Edward James Olmos (Adm. Adama) at the Saturn Awards on May10, no end has been announced for the award-winning show. Battlestar Galactica is preparing to film its fourth season, one that will include 22 episodes, rather than the previously [...]

Cally Tyrol is either the toughest or the luckiest woman in scifi. She’s looked down the barrel of many guns, has been in front of a Cylon firing squad and even got thrown into deep space without a space suit. Nicki Clyne, the woman who gives life to Cally on Battlestar Galactica, talks about the [...]

My demand for hot Cylon guys was answered! Woohoo! I knew incessant emails would pay off. So, the second highest ranking military officer, the president’s aide and the guy in charge of maintaining all of mankind’s remaining Vipers and Raptors are all Cylons. Them, and a hot, former pro-athlete turned guerrilla. Related Stuff:

The identities of the final five Cylons are readily available on the internet, but I haven’t looked and have no intention of doing so because it kills my enjoyment of the program. I like speculating. That said, I thoroughly enjoyed Crossroads Part One. It kind of made wading through the muck of the last several [...]

I hate the paint in my living room. Halfway through BSG I realized I was giving the paint a lot of thought. It’s this weird shade of toffee brown that the landlady picked out and it clashes with all of our furniture. Paint was more interesting to me than this episode, and it’s not even [...]

Battlestar Galactica kills bad girls. If a female on BSG has an entire episode written about her, that’s a good indicator that she’s going to die. Kat died in the only Kat-centric episode of the series. Starbuck died in the Starbuck-centric episode. However, Helo and Admiral Adama didn’t get knocked off in their episodes. Helo [...]

There’s an argument online that Laura Roslin is a Cylon. Typical. We finally get an effective female president, and she may not even be human. The reasons are based on a number of events that have taken place throughout the series. I hate to say it, but there may be something to this idea. Related [...]

Battlestar Galactica should have been handled like a British series: produce a couple of short seasons, tell the story, and get out. When there are only six or eight episodes in a season, and the seasons themselves have a limited run, it really encourages the economy of storytelling and discourages filler. Related Stuff:

I am a big supporter and fan of shirtless Helo. In fact, the uniform for Helo Agathon and Lee Adama should just be pants. Pants and no shirt. Sure, it’s cold in space, but that doesn’t seem to bother Caprica Six. Related Stuff:

George Dvorsky has pointed out that women tend to be bald more often in scifi than in any other genre. In some cases, baldness is a method of desexualizing women and making them more socially acceptable as heroes. In others, the baldness represents something else entirely. I think a more pressing issue is the state [...]

When I was a freshman in high school I became completely obsessed with Twin Peaks. The internet was just starting at that time, and being a member of the Prodigy network, I used this new internet thing to search out bulletin boards (what we now call a forum, for all of you who aren’t old [...]
