The Vampire Diaries: The Descent

With the brilliance of the last several episodes of this show you’d think I’d have been more excited for it’s return. Instead of excitement, I am apathetic. Yes, that is confusing considering The Vampire Diaries is on my short list of shows I regularly watch.

The Vampire Diaries: By The Light of the Moon

By The Light Of The Moon

By Dawn Del Sontro – It has come down to this. I’m not ashamed, no matter how people react when I tell them I watch shows on the CW. I’ll admit it, openly and honestly. I like the Vampire Diaries. That’s right. You read that correctly. I like it.

The Vampire Diaries: The Sacrifice

Bonnie-casting-a-spell

By Dawn Del Sontro – The title of this episode foreshadows someone doing something for the sake of saving someone else. Well in this case, it’s not someone, but almost everyone making some kind of sacrifice and most of them doing it for Elena.

The Vampire Diaries: Katerina

Bonnie-and-Luca

By Dawn Del Sontro – As a rule, the only knowledge of a new episode that I give myself is the little tease you get from the end of the previous episode. That tease last week was enough to make me one happy girl. An episode all about Katherine? YAY! I love her. She’s so evil and that’s exactly how I like my vampires.

Vampire Diaries: Rose

Taking a road trip

After watching this episode I’ve realized two things about The Vampire Diaries. 1) This show as the best pacing of a series. Ever. 2) I like this show. I like it a lot.

The Vampire Diaries:Masquerade

vampire-dairies-masquerade

By Dawn Del Sontro – I started out my experience with The Vampire Diaries at the series premiere. That lasted about a third of the year before I lost interest and wandered away on to better things. Like washing my hair or reading the back of a shampoo bottle. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again; love between a teenager and a vampire just doesn’t work for me unless we are talking Buffy and Angel. Even those two knew when it end it before it got stupid.

The Vampire Diaries: Plan B

VAM_24x36_BED_Poster

By Dawn Del Sontro – After last week’s wonderfully delicious episode I came into this week with modestly high hopes. Fifteen minutes in, I began to feel that The Vampire Diaries had reverted to its boring, expotition of the several episodes before. Five minutes after that, I was one happy girl again.

The Vampire Diaries: Kill or Be Killed

vamp-diaries-caroline

By Dawn Del Sontro – Let me admit this right up front, I hate the vampire angst and the love between teenagers and hundreds year old supernatural beings. It bothers me. It’s overdone. It’s just gross and weird. All that said – this episode was 18 kinds of awesome. Awesome with a capital A.

The Vampire Diaries: Memory Lane

vamp-diaries-2-2

By Dawn Del Sontro – It’s obvious by the title that this episode is going to be flashback happy. It is. It really, really is. The fuzzy washed out scenes are a nice touch since I’m guessing that’s what pictures from that long ago would look like, too. But, what is wrong with Damon’s hair? Good lord. That’s just awful.

The Vampire Diaries: Bad Moon Rising

vampire-diaries-2-3

By Dawn Del Sontro – If you live in Mystic Falls, chances are you are some kind of supernatural being, have slept with one, are hunting one, or have been eaten by one. Perusing our list we see that lycanthropes are next for most popular choice of inhuman critters which means that they must appear on our show (see Buffy, and True Blood for examples. As well as Twilight, but only if you must). All you normal people should really consider moving out of state. Oh, crap. I live in Virginia. I wonder if I should look to relocate?

Vampire Diaries: You’re Undead to Me

By Lisa Fary – After two weeks free of VD, I came back to find Elena to be a more hopeful kind of heroine. She’s no Buffy, but she sure as hell is no Bella. And that’s a good thing.

Vampire Diaries: Night of the Comet

By Lisa Fary – In this week’s VD flare up, “Night of the Comet”, the town becomes a zombie-like wasteland after passing through the tail of a comet and Elena has to toughen up to survive in her new post-apocalyptic world. Unfortunately, this means no more trips to the EmoYard for diary writing.

Vampire Diaries: Series Premiere

By Lisa Fary – The Vampire Diaries predates Twilight by almost 15 years. So, the CW show is not stealing from Twilight. It is, however, borrowing liberally from Dark Shadows.
