About Jenn Kim

When she's not questioning her decision to enter lawyer-hood-dom, Jenn enjoys stalking celebrities and getting over her totally rational fear of zombies. She also idolizes Joss Whedon, and is crossing her fingers that Nathan Fillion and NPH will accept her friend requests.

Chuck: Q & A with Zachary Levi

By Jenn Kim – Friday’s Q & A conference call with Zachary Levi and Chuck co-creators and executive producers Josh Schwartz and Chris Fedak was pretty damn delightful, and I didn’t even get the chance to ask if I could have Zachary Levi’s babies. They were all warm, gracious, and funny, and indulged the different callers by extensively answering questions about the show and what to expect with the new season. Some highlights: Josh Schwartz and Chris Fedak explained what it was like to have the show come back from the brink of death, while Zachary Levi spoke considerably about his experiences as a first-time director, as well as dealing with the wretched task of making out with his beautiful female co-stars. And now, the complete transcript of the call.

Fight Fest:Kicking Ass On Stage Never Looked So Good

by Jenn Kim – MAN I love me some good fighting. I love watching it, I love participating in it, and I love instigating it. No, I kid, I kid, I’m actually a pacifist at heart. (Sort of.) But choreographed fighting and martial arts? It’s so hot right now! Choreographed fighting and martial arts on a stage? Um, geekyfightgasms to ensue for all.

FlashForward: Believe

By Jenn Kim – Coincidentally, I’ve been having a lot of lively discussion with Babe and friends re: the important distinction between creepy stalkers and really sweet romantics. After some soul-searching debate, we came to the eye-opening conclusion that the only real difference is the level of attractiveness said potential stalker-slash-romantic holds to the object of his affection. It’s the reason why Edward Cullen can get away with sneaking into Bella’s bedroom to watch her sleep after knowing her for like, a day, and why I want to file a restraining order against the guy I met online after he sent me a few simple e-mails.

Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade Balloon Inflation

Inflating Bloggers’ Hearts Since 2009 – By Jenn Kim – This year, for the first time in balloon history, Macy’s (in coordination with NBC), invited a group of awesome bloggers for a private tour of the inflation site. One of the best things about the tour was being on the inside of the police barricades whilst all of the throngs of people, many of whom were children, were forced to stand behind them. It kept me warm during the cold drizzle and rain.

Chuck: I Miss You; Come Back to Me!

by Jenn Kim – So I’ve been dealing with a lot of the unfamiliar lately: new city, new job, new people to judge me as I stumble drunkenly into them. Anyway, with all of these changes, I’ve been craving something familiar and comfortable to keep me warm during these already cold nights. And since I left my Snuggie in Jersey, I turn to the next best thing: television. (Shut up, I’m not lonely! *Sniff.)

FlashForward: Playing Cards with Coyote

by Jenn Kim – So I’m usually a sucker for the development of an onscreen father-daughter relationship. Everyone has their Achilles heel when it comes to the tugging of the heartstrings, and I don’t know why, but father-daughter relationships are IT for me. They almost ALWAYS get to me, whether in the form of overly sentimental commercials (seriously, I can’t not tear up when I watch the bride dance with her dad in that shameless credit card advertisement), movies or TV shows.

FlashForward: The Gift

By Jenn Kim – So…I consider myself a pretty even-tempered person. I mean sure, I participate in the random riot and/or bar brawl here or there, but for the most part, not that many things set me off, with the exceptions of: 1) racism; 2) being told “Nice to meet you” when I’ve met said person before (30 Rock so got that right); and 3) when a show kills off an INCREDIBLY ATTRACTIVE CHARACTER. FOR NO GOOD REASON.

FlashForward: Scary Monsters and Super Creeps

By Jenn Kim – So FlashForward presents an alternate reality. Not because, you know, the whole world blacked out and saw their future for 2 minutes, but because Dominic Monaghan is suddenly a swarthy, smarmy, sexual creature who beds hot blond strangers of the female persuasion on trains. And does it by talking the dirty physics talk to them.

Flash Forward: Black Swan

by Jenn Kim – “Maybe it’s not as sexy as dead poultry in Africa, but you gotta admit, the timing’s a little hinky here, Mark.” I actually laughed out loud when I heard John Cho deliver that line with utter and total seriousness. Because come on, what’s IS as sexy as dead poultry in Africa?

Flash Forward: 137 Sekunden

By Jenn Kim – Let me start off by saying that I actually like this show. Ever since I fell in love with Quantum Leap (and Scott Bakula, SIGH) as a wee child, I’ve been quite taken with the concept of time, and future, and whether it can be changed and stuff. I think the premise of Flash Forward is pretty damn interesting (for 2 minutes and 17 seconds, you pass out and you’re in your future body doing futurey stuff! Will the futurey stuff come true?), and when I heard that John Cho was set to co-star in this scifi-y show on a major television network, I almost lost my sh*t. Surely nerdgasms would ensue!

Dollhouse Season 2: 7 Reasons Why You Should Be Punched in the Stomach for Missing It

By Jenn Kim – Ahh, Dollhouse. How you enjoy toying with our fragile emotions. I had so many conflicting feelings while watching your first few episodes (you’re created by JOSS FRICKIN’ WHEDON!! But I’m confused by this plot!! Faith was like, my favorite character on Buffy! But why do I find Echo so unconvincing??? I’m glad there’s an Asian-looking female main character!! But what’s up with all these sexual engagements?? OMG, Fred’s a doctor, and she has a face-scar!! But why is Helo so surly?? EXCLAMATION POINTS and QUESTION MARKS!!!??!).

5 Reasons Why Season 5 of Supernatural is Going to Kick Apocalyptic Ass

by Jenn Kim – I don’t know about you, but I’m frickin’ excited about this season’s Supernatural. Usually a show loses steam by the time it enter its 5th season, but Super ended last season with its highest ratings ever. And with reason. I mean, will we ever tire of the complexities and nuances of the Winchester boys’ relationship? Will we ever grow weary of the man-tears and the heart-wrenching angst? Will we ever cease to marvel at Jared Padalecki’s physical burgeoning, or Jensens Ackles’ weathered beauty? No, no, of course not. Never, ever, ever. Which is why, despite knowing that Paris Effin’ Hilton is going to be guest-starring at some point this season (hopefully I’ll let that go with time), we remain pumped and excited for what promises to be another awesomely tormented season of brooding hotness.

Geek Theater: Vampire Cowboy’s Fight Girl Battle World Rocks My Frickin’ Geek World

by Jenn Kim – Sigh. This week has been hard. Since last Friday, I’ve been assaulted with articles, pictures and video feed of what I’ve missed at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con that took place a whole 2,831 miles away from my home in New Jersey. (Yeah, I google mapped it.) I may or may not have spent this week sobbing quietly in front of my computer, my haunted eyes watching the likes of Joss Whedon (my HERO), Misha Collins (at least Jared and Jensen weren’t there) and Nate Fillion (SIGH!!!!) via frickin’ youtube instead of at a huge convention hall with tens of thousands of like-minded, awesome peeps in cosplay.

Chuck versus the Ring

by Jenn Kim – As I’ve come to the wisdom of my late-20s, there are a few absolutes I’ve discovered about myself. First, I’m irrationally attracted to plaid and the pairing of graphic tees and blazers (except when worn by Roommie); second; I have “unique” taste when it comes to choosing my TV/film boyfriends (I still maintain that Giovanni Ribisi is a really good actor whose weirdness is totally charming and quirky); and finally, if NBC cancels Chuck, I’m going to lose my $h!t. Seriously.

Soul Samurai: The Best of Vampire-Slaying and Interracial Loving

by Jenn Kim

When The Brian and I were nerding it up at New York Comic-Con, he told me the theater company Vampire Cowboys would be making an appearance. I thought to myself, “Who is this intriguing group? Are they vampires who think of themselves as cowboys? Or cowboys who enjoy the occasional blood-sucking session, like Riley in season 5 of Buffy?” (He was so my least favorite boyfriend.)
