About Jenn Kim

When she's not questioning her decision to enter lawyer-hood-dom, Jenn enjoys stalking celebrities and getting over her totally rational fear of zombies. She also idolizes Joss Whedon, and is crossing her fingers that Nathan Fillion and NPH will accept her friend requests.

Being Human: All Out of Blood

beinghuman_joshaidan

Look, I’m all for developing bromantic tension between two male leads. But forcing a love triangle upon them? You’re better than that Dawson’s Creek crap.

Being Human: Turn This Mother Out

Being-Human-SyFy-Turn-This-Mother-Out

I think I’m over Josh. I used to find his squirmy insecurity endearing and sort of hot, but he’s become so emo and sullen that I’m getting impatient with him.

Being Human: A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to Me Killing You

BEING-HUMAN-SyFy-A-Funny-Thing-Happened-on-the-Way-to-Me-Killing-You

Will Sally ever get a new outfit? The leggings and sweater look might not be in style next season. That’s right, food for thought!

Being Human: You’re the One That I Haunt

youre-the-one-that-i-haunt

Why does an attempt on Danny’s life change Sally’s appearance? As a ghost, why does Sally’s physical appearance have any metamorphosis at all?!! Where is the Holy Grail!?!? WHO KILLED COLONEL MUSTARD?!?? WHERE IS THE LINDBERGH BABY!!!!??

Interview with Vampire Cowboys’ Qui Nguyen and Paco Tolson: The Baddest Renegades of Geek Theater!

IMG_0069

When I sit on the subway, there’s not the majority of any race. This is a town where it’s not about segregation. Yet our entertainment is so often, ‘Here’s the white show; here’s the black show.’ With us that’s not how we take in our lives, so why are we presenting [that] on stage? So for Vampire Cowboys, [it’s] very much like, “this is who we are and we want to make sure that it’s inclusive to everyone; that everyone feels like they have a hero.”

Being Human: I Want You Back (From the Dead)

Being Human

I have to tip my hats to the writers here. They are begging us to suspend all the were/vamp/ghost dogma we’ve built up over the years and they are really innovating in an extremely worn niche. *death glare at Edward Cullen* *applause*

Being Human: Children Shouldn’t Play with Undead Things

being-human-8

by Jenn Kim

Hm. So it seems I’ve done a 180 about Aidan. Yes, I’m still unduly prejudiced towards the combination of butt chin and overly pursed lips on a man, but take that same man and have him play cards with a 10 year old boy, and suddenly I’m all, “Helloooooo, Nurse!”

Q & A Conference Call with Being Human’s Sam Witwer

Dear Sam Witwer, I’m sorry I ever said I hated your face. Okay, well, technically I said I hated Aidan’s face, but considering you share the same body parts and all, I take it back. (I know, I know; you’ve been crying yourself to sleep every night since.)

Being Human: Something to Watch Over Me

So how do you feel about the inconsistencies in vampire lore portrayed in Show? In the interest of full disclosure, everything I know about vampires comes from seven seasons of Buffy, five seasons of Angel, and two seasons of True Blood (okay FINE, and three Twilight movies). This totally makes me a vampire expert, so I can say with confidence that vampires are not supposed to be capable of: 1) being exposed to sunlight; and 2) seeing their reflection.

An Open letter to Syfy: I was Wrong About Your Version of Being Human

I’d like to start off by saying that I’ve always been terrible at admitting I was “wrong” about anything. (See, I even had to put “wrong” in quotes.) SyFy, I’ve been enjoying your version of Being Human so much that you’ve made me reevaluate myself, forcing me to question the way I may or may not make unfounded, harsh judgments with reckless abandon.

The Shepherd’s Tale: Finally, The Book on Book!

FireflyRonGlass

By Jenn Kim – The third installation of the Dark Horse Serenity series is penned by Zack Whedon, aka the Best Rapper to Ever Perform in Commentary: the Musical, aka My Future Husband, but perhaps better known for being the Youngest of the Whedon Brothers, co-writer of Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog, and writer of Fringe. Future Husband, along with Future Brother-in-Law Joss, provide Browncoats with the opportunity to receive the answer to the too-long burning question of: What up with Shepherd Book?

Chuck vs. Operation Awesome

By Jenn Kim – I was never a huge Angie Harmon fan (though I think that can be attributed more towards my apathy towards Law and Order than her overall performance in it), but I genuinely appreciated how much fun she seemed to have in “Chuck vs. Operation Awesome.” And how could she not?

Chuck: Holy Crap, Season Three is Frickin’ Awesome

By Jenn Kim – I thought I was prepared for Chuck’s return. I had read about all the minor spoilers, and expected that the new intersect would provide some fun and interesting plot developments. Chuck’s complete and utter awesome return from hiatus, however, kind of threw me off guard, like that guy I sat next to in Con Law class all year but never noticed until he came back from summer break rocking emo glasses and a faux-hawk. Both left me unexpectedly giggly and smiley upon their return, but unlike my hot former classmate, Chuck is totally has already totally provided me with deep and meaningful relationship. That will STAND THE TEST OF TIME.

Chuck: Q & A with Zachary Levi

By Jenn Kim – Friday’s Q & A conference call with Zachary Levi and Chuck co-creators and executive producers Josh Schwartz and Chris Fedak was pretty damn delightful, and I didn’t even get the chance to ask if I could have Zachary Levi’s babies. They were all warm, gracious, and funny, and indulged the different callers by extensively answering questions about the show and what to expect with the new season. Some highlights: Josh Schwartz and Chris Fedak explained what it was like to have the show come back from the brink of death, while Zachary Levi spoke considerably about his experiences as a first-time director, as well as dealing with the wretched task of making out with his beautiful female co-stars. And now, the complete transcript of the call.

Fight Fest:Kicking Ass On Stage Never Looked So Good

by Jenn Kim – MAN I love me some good fighting. I love watching it, I love participating in it, and I love instigating it. No, I kid, I kid, I’m actually a pacifist at heart. (Sort of.) But choreographed fighting and martial arts? It’s so hot right now! Choreographed fighting and martial arts on a stage? Um, geekyfightgasms to ensue for all.

FlashForward: Believe

By Jenn Kim – Coincidentally, I’ve been having a lot of lively discussion with Babe and friends re: the important distinction between creepy stalkers and really sweet romantics. After some soul-searching debate, we came to the eye-opening conclusion that the only real difference is the level of attractiveness said potential stalker-slash-romantic holds to the object of his affection. It’s the reason why Edward Cullen can get away with sneaking into Bella’s bedroom to watch her sleep after knowing her for like, a day, and why I want to file a restraining order against the guy I met online after he sent me a few simple e-mails.

Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade Balloon Inflation

Inflating Bloggers’ Hearts Since 2009 – By Jenn Kim – This year, for the first time in balloon history, Macy’s (in coordination with NBC), invited a group of awesome bloggers for a private tour of the inflation site. One of the best things about the tour was being on the inside of the police barricades whilst all of the throngs of people, many of whom were children, were forced to stand behind them. It kept me warm during the cold drizzle and rain.
