So, I’m looking at the Fall 2014 Ready to Wear collections at New York Fashion Week and come to the Rodarte show. Their lines are hit or miss with me – they do some interesting knitwear sometimes, but most of it is twee anymore.
After 25 or so looks featuring this season’s 1920s/1990s Granny Mashup, I paused and wondered, “Is that the Death Star?”
It’s totally the Death Star. Followed by the Tatooine sunset, Luke Skywalker, C-3PO, and Yoda.
I won’t be as dramatic as to say that Rodarte’s Star Wars gowns won New York Fashion Week because they came out of nowhere and didn’t fit in with the rest of the collection. But, they got my attention for a minute. Although, I’d reconsider the placement of Luke Skywalker’s head to be less suggestive.
