The Vampire Diaries: Memorial

Elena throws up a lot of blood, and it’s pretty gross.

She’s a sloppy eater, but she still looks prettier than most people.

Stephan and Damon fight over her, again.

There’s a new vampire hunter in town and he’s actually pretty badass with his vervain steeped gloves and wooden bullets.

You know – the usual for this show.

He storms a funeral, shanks the dead priest’s daughter so her blood will out the vampires he knows are hiding amongst the normal people (or what this town tries to pass for normal).

Tyler takes one for the team, but before that announces that he’s taking one for the team. Yeah, I figured that out before he went up to the podium, but it was still pretty cool of him.

Oh NO! They shot Alaric…I mean Tyler!

The vampire crew, plus the humans Matt and Jeremy have their own memorial for all the ones they’ve lost. Damn, that’s one long list. At some point I think it would behoove them to leave, just so the population of Mystic Falls doesn’t go extinct.

It annoys me that they mention Vicky, but no one bothers to mention that her death was Damon’s fault. Jeremy loved her and she was Matt’s sister. Yet, there’s Damon hanging out with the crew. I might just be more vindictive than most, but I’d be trying to stake him on a continuous basis. Just saying.

Oh, and of course, because no one on this show can stay completely human, Jeremy shows us that he can see vampire hunter’s HUGE tattoo. No one else can, and the hunter knows that, so I guess that means Jeremy is on his radar. Oops.

Buddies even in the afterlife.

Then there’s poor Damon. He doesn’t stay for their memorial. Instead he laments to Alaric’s grave about everything he’s lost while he gets hammered. But what’s this? Alaric’s ghost? I thought Matthew Davis got a new show or something. I don’t mind because by the end he was one of my favorite characters, despite dying every 5.7 seconds.

All in all, this episode was pretty good. Not great, but it did have some pretty great parts to it. I like the new vampire hunters, plus like everyone else on the cast, he’s easy on the eyes. I’m just hoping that he doesn’t make nice with the natives too soon. His havoc seems so much more fun than the havoc caused by Klaus for the last two seasons.
