Here’s another in the Avengers series of free pumpkin carving templates for ya.
I’ve been a Hulk fan ever since I was a little kid. But I’ve never been satisfied with his portrayal in anything outside of the comics. Lou Ferrigno was just a guy in green paint and a wig. The Eric Bana movie, while not as bad as general consensus would have it, still isn’t a very good movie. Neither was the follow up Hulk reboot with Ed Norton a couple of years later.
But Joss Whedon not only nailed it with The Avengers in general, he nailed the Hulk by portraying him as a tormented creature, and a childish rage monster. The fight with Thor was epic. Hulk’s grin after receiving Captain America’s “Smash.” command was brilliant. Even “concerned” hulk, looming over a possibly deceased Tony Stark yet still looking like the only answer he had for his grief was to punch something was genius.
Captain America, on the other hand, I never really “got.” The First Avenger movie went a long way toward my having a new appreciation for the character, but I felt he worked best as a period character, fighting Nazis. Or as thematic inspiration for generations of Marvel heroes to come. Until The Avengers. Now I see the Captain as the ultimate tactician, and more than a match for just about anyone out there.
