Our 7 year old cousin, Brady, has designs on ruling the world and I’m pretty sure he got the idea from seeing Loki in The Avengers.
He didn’t even want to go see the movie in the first place, but we were taking his brothers and he didn’t want to be left out. He’s got such a mischievous little face and, getting in the car to go to the theater, he practically had this statement written all over it: “I’m going to make them all sorry.”
Since Brady’s really into science right now and wants to be a scientist when he grows up, we regaled him with stories of Iron Man and how being a genius scientist is really his super power. That got his attention and he finally settled into the idea of sitting through The Avengers.
However, Brady found another character to love and identify with: Loki.
At the end of Loki’s first sequence, after he’d destroyed the lab and taken his mind-controlled thralls, Brady giggled and whispered, “Sweet.”
So, we’d like to apologize now for bringing the people of Earth their first mad scientist overlord. It’s still twenty or thirty years off, but we know Brady pretty well and have accepted that this is going to happen. In fact, why don’t we all start carving pumpkin offerings to him right now.
