More NY Fashion Week Spring 2013!
My previous posts was all gore and guts and garbage and Betsey Johnson. But, there was also so much in the way of future-y, spacey fashion on display in NYFW’s collections, too. If Spring 2012′s collections were about aggressive cheerfulness contrasted with crushing gloom, and Fall 2012 was about doomsday anxiety, then Spring 2013′s are about accepting the future we’re getting, even if it’s not the one we want.
In this post, it’s all about
- Futurism
- Robots
- Space waitresses
I want to live in the world where Thom Browne’s collection is appropriate for everyday wear. How much fun would that place be? It would be like living in a Dr. Seuss book.
The most elegant Dalek in the universe:
A secretary from the future:
On a side note, I can never say “Max Azria” correctly the first time. Or the second. It always comes out as “Hank Azaria”, who is totally different.
I don’t know if this is separates or a jumpsuit, but I effing love it.
Love this, too, even if it is a little Mars shuttle stewardess.
Space princess (desert planet variety):
Desert-space princess’s mom. I’m really digging the circle texture on the coat. If that’s a coat. Could be part of the dress.
This last look doesn’t fit in with the rest of this bunch, but it’s so gorgeous. I love the kaleidoscope effect on the bodice.

1. I pinned those exact same Rodarte and Thom Browne dresses!
2. I feel like an ass saying I “pinned” something.
3. I do the same thing when I see Max Azria.
4. Chado Ralph Rucci was my favorite line although not very apocalyptic.
5. I have spent way too much time the past week on style.com.
