When I was a kid, I was absolutely certain that the house we rented was haunted.
It was all the usual stuff:
- shadows that made no sense
- disappearing toys
- cold spots on the floor
- maniacal laughter while my bed levitated
OK, that last one was probably just a dream. But, it still scared the crap out of me. It would’ve been nice to be able to talk to them, like the hero of ParaNorman.
This week, we have a ParaNorman prize pack to give away!
One (1) winner will receive:
- Adult T-Shirt
- Backpack
- Keychain
- Notebook
- Nightlight
- Slippers
- Toothbrush
TO ENTER TO WIN
Answer the following question in the comments below:
What would be the worst part about being a ghost? Other than, you know, being dead?
We’ll draw a winner at random on Monday!

I think not being able to easily communicate with the people around me (particularly in a way that didn’t make those people scream/become a freak) would be the worst. Also, not being able to eat/taste food. No fruit, no chocolate, no lamb chops. It would definitely be a difficult part of ghostly existance.
Thanks for the chance to win!
I think not being able to speak, smell or touch things would be the worst part of being a ghost.
I’d miss being able to sleep. It’s not like a ghost can close his eyes since he can see through his eye lids. Plus, I wouldn’t be able to snuggle under the covers. That’s the best part of climbing into bed.
Plus you couldn’t make forts or read under the blankets…now I feel really bad for ghosts.
I think it would be not being able to feel physical contact (like a hug, a kiss, or a handshake even). There is something so comforting just being able to hold someone. I feel so sappy.
Most people not being able to see or hear you. It would be like being given the silent treatment by everyone ALL the time. I would get depressed. That must be why ghosts moan.
What would be the worst part about being a ghost? Other than, you know, being dead?
I think what I would miss most is riding in cars. As a ghost, a non-corporeal being, one would not be able to sink into the seat and just be; one would have to always be aware of the presence of one’s being and the ever present motion that could propel ghost you out of the car and into the ether.
I wouldn’t be able to get my touch screen to work.
I already commented for me, but I asked my daughter (age 8) and she said that you wouldn’t be able to enjoy a movie at a theater because you couldn’t sit in the seat, or eat the popcorn. Plus people might “boooo” you.
Thats age 8….not smiley.
That no one can see you or hear you. Or you can’t do what you love because you would probably need to have a body to do all of the stuff you love. I love art, baking, and fashion. But you need to be a solid to paint or sketch. With baking again you got to be a solid to mix, but you couldn’t smell or eat it. And with fashion, no one can see you so you don’t exist to them, therefore you can’t be wearing it, but you would float through the clothing too. So yeah, can’t do what you love.
Not being able to speak to or touch my loved ones. It would be so hard to just stand there and watch everyone move on without me.
