After getting kicked in the face by Torchwood for the past several weeks, it was so comforting to get back to madcap Doctor Who.
Although, initially, I was annoyed by the sudden appearance of Mels, the best mate and biggest troublemaker in Leadworth whom we’d never seen nor heard of before. And look at that. She’s getting shot and dying, like we’re supposed to care just because Show abruptly decided Mels has been there all along.
And then the regeneration happened.
I’m sorry I doubted you, Show.
There is so much I loved about this episode:
A Justice Robot!
- Among all the drama of a missing baby, hijacked TARDIS, and Hitler, Show still had room for a justice robot from the future.
Quippy Dialogue Made for Cafe Press T-Shirts
- “I’m going to wear lots of jumpers!”
- “Shut up, Hitler!”
- “Put Hitler in the cupboard.”
- “I’m trapped inside a giant robot replica of my wife. I’m trying not to see that as a metaphor.”
Flagrantly Craptastic Anti-Body Robots
- It’s so obviously a bike helmet with jump ropes stuck up in it, but it’s effective. And funny.
The Universe’s Oldest Question
- The answer is probably not 42. Someone has got to say it on the show, though, right?
Alex Kingston/Melody Pond/River Song
- Even as a villain, I love her. She’s quickly supplanting Gwen Cooper as my go to gal for awesome.
