Fringe: Immortality

I’m totally okay with Bolivia’s pregnancy: it just provides so much opportunity for her to open her eyes and see how effed up Walternate really is. If she does, she can also wield a Sword of Power alongside Olivia. They can be like the Two Universe Wonder Twins.

Six of the Weirdest Sex Symbols in Movie History

It’s no secret that geeks have their fetishes. How many guys do you know that would give their comic book, video game and DVD collections combined to have one magical evening with Sailor moon, 2D and all? But us girls aren’t immune to the call of unconventional objects of affection. Not only do girls have their share of out there crushes, we get even weirder with it than our cartoon lusting male counterparts. And no I’m not talking about Spock, even your mom wanted to do Spock … sorry for that image.

The Anti-Social Network

On Monday, February 7, 2011, I deactivated my Facebook account. The act made both scared and liberated to do so. It’s not that I’m anti-technology. Something unconsciously triggers in me, a need to connect to something real, and a screen isn’t it.

Smallville: Beacon

Instead of cheese and schmoop, Beacon opens with a healthy dose of dramatic tension. Tess seems to be at the center of the tension. Accused of censorship by a very incensed Lois she discovers that someone approved some rather vicious articles. When he tries to get away and walks into her office Lionel is sitting in her chair.

My Heroines Have Always Been Evil Queens and Witches

My friends idealized the princess-damsels, though, and I played along. But, the truth was that my favorite characters in the more popular stories were the villains: the evil queens and witches who were knowledgeable and daring, who didn’t suffer stolen radishes or snubs. And it only had a little bit to do with schadenfreude.

Starbucks in Starbucks

by Juliana Weiss-Roessler How does this photo exist since Dirk Benedict is notorious for hating how Ron Moore reimagined (or, as he refered to it, “unimagined”) the original Battlestar Galactica series ? He even derisively referred to Katee Sackhoff’s version of the character as “Stardoe.” Related Stuff:

V Review: Concordia

Concordia was great mainly because there is nothing like a good “fancy party” episode. What do I mean by that? If you notice in a lot of mystery, science fiction (unless it takes place in space or what not), and action-based TV programs, there is always at least one episode where something crazy goes down at a gala, benefit, or some lavish shindig at a mansion.

No Ordinary Family: No Ordinary Double Standard

Offering a play by play of the episodes has become a tad tedious for a show that plays by the rules (for the most part). I can only say so many times at the end of my reviews “wish they’d done this, why won’t they do that, that was kinda cool”. Also, if you’re reading this, it’s highly likely you’ve seen what happened. So I’m streamlining my recap and reviews. Hopefully, like the new opening, it’ll just get us sooner to the good stuff.

Crossplay vs. Femme Cosplay

I like to cosplay male costumes. I’ve done Han Solo and Indiana Jones. I’ve got loose plans for Boba Fett, a member of the Imperial Guard, and maybe the Tenth Doctor. Because of my predilection for dressing like a guy, I’ve recently learned about the subtle differences between crossplay and femme cosplay of a male character.

The Cape: Goggles and Hicks

The villain du jour in this episode is actually a team. Goggles is a sociopathic paraplegic geeky fellow who gathers intelligence for his brother Hicks, a sociopathic mobile assassin. Together they make quite the serial killer, uploading their information on their targets onto individual flash drives and storing them away in a morbid collection like Dexter Morgan’s blood slides.

Supernatural: Like a Virgin

It’s been a while since we last saw Sam and Dean Winchester walking the earth; it’s a wonder Show isn’t more worried about loosing viewers during such a long hiatus. Not only that, but the hiatus was, at the very last moment, increased by a week, causing a hue and cry from fans being denied their weekly helping of Winchester Boys. Then other fans reminded them that people were starving in, so, in comparison, being asked to wait another week for Sam and Dean wasn’t really that hard. Then the first group of fans threw metaphorical shoes at the second group, the second group got butthurt, and on it went. Show probably enjoyed the publicity; even bad press is still press.

Videogame Flashback: The Atari 2600 (1977)

During it’s tenure and even after the crash Atari kept selling units until it was finally discontinued in 1992. Not a bad run for videogame console that has left an indelible mark on gaming history and is basically the reason we have a lot of what we take for granted today in gaming.
