Fringe: Reciprocity

So Team Fringe finally gave Bolivia her own special name: Fauxlivia. I think I’ll stick with Bolivia, though. It just rolls off the tongue.

The Vampire Diaries: The Descent

With the brilliance of the last several episodes of this show you’d think I’d have been more excited for it’s return. Instead of excitement, I am apathetic. Yes, that is confusing considering The Vampire Diaries is on my short list of shows I regularly watch.

2010 Videogame Profits – A Different Dynamic

Don’t let those Call of Duty numbers deceive you. Apparently despite the gazillion dollars that one game made in less than a month, overall, the last year of the past decade seemed to have been pretty much the same as 2009. At least that’s what the latest reports from the NPD group says. In total the industry pulled in around $15 billion, give or take a few which is apparently is not bad or good .. it’s just the same.

An Open letter to Syfy: I was Wrong About Your Version of Being Human

I’d like to start off by saying that I’ve always been terrible at admitting I was “wrong” about anything. (See, I even had to put “wrong” in quotes.) SyFy, I’ve been enjoying your version of Being Human so much that you’ve made me reevaluate myself, forcing me to question the way I may or may not make unfounded, harsh judgments with reckless abandon.

The Fan Whisperer – Conclusion

I’m tired of playing nice and trying to explain myself to anyone. And I don’t think I’m alone in feeling this way; I don’t think I’m the only fan fiction writer who is weary of trying to defend how we spend our free, waking hours.

How Too Much TV Made Me Hate Tina Fey

For god’s sake, Liz Lemon. Get your crap together and get a bloody therapist because after three hours of live TV, your shenanigans aren’t funny. And, by the way? I’m sick of your wardrobe. There’s more to life than Oxford shirts and V-neck sweaters.I’m sick of your little blazers, Oxford shirts and V-neck sweaters.

The Cape: Scales on a Train

After seeing this week’s episode, I am convinced that the show has two diametrically opposed forces behind it. One wants the show to be good. The other wants it to suck.

The Fan Whisperer – Part 4

According to Wikipedia, 80% of fan fiction is written by women. I’m not sure where they get their research, because I’ve been in fandom a while and have met no dudes who write fan fiction and only one dude who reads it, so I think the number should be right around 99% written by women, and 100% for women. While I don’t think it’s a feminist issue (and I certainly don’t want to discuss it as one), Camille Bacon-Smith in her ethnographic study of fandom called “Enterprising Women” described something she called the female eye.

Fringe: The Firefly

By Rhea Dee

I really wanted to hate the Observers in this episode. It’d be so easy to hate a mysterious alien race that only appears every once in a while to spout out some mysterious, vague bs. Hey Fringe, I watched Lost and The X-Files you know, so I don’t have the patience to sit through mysterious characters whose ultimate purpose is to be mysterious.

Missile Command, The Movie: AYFKM?

Despite a litany of craptaculars from Mario to Tomb Raider and the fact that this game has no back story, someone over at Fox has actually greenlit the production of … a Missile Command movie. By the way, Atari seems to be the publisher/developer du jour because they have had two other games picked up in the last two years, Asteroids and Rollercoaster Tycoon. Thankfully, neither of them have made it to the silver screen … yet.
