Browncoats: Redemption Premiering at DragonCon

By WorldofHiglet

Excitement is mounting ahead of the world premiere of Browncoats: Redemption at Dragon*Con. After all the work put in by the team they are preparing for the big day in Atlanta. The film will be screened 7:00 – 9:00 PM EDT on Saturday 4th September and DVD copies (jam-packed with extras) are on sale now on the website. All proceeds from the DVD sales will go to these charities.

It will also be available to view online from 7:00 PM tomorrow at browncoatsmovie.com and ustream.tv/browncoatsmovie for a limited amount of time. You can join in the online event by commenting on Facebook and using the Twitter hashtag #browncoatsmovie

We first reported on Browncoats: Redemption, the new fan film set in the Firefly/Serenity Universe, in April 2009, just before filming started. In that interview, co-producer Michael Dougherty took us through all the pre-production work they had completed, the money they hoped to raise for charity and the premise of the film.

We next interviewed Michael in January 2010 after the principle photography had been completed. So much work had been done, with more still to do. But they were on track to achieve their seemingly-impossible goal of creating a feature in less than two years. We also found out more about the charities that were benefiting from the movie and the ingenious “I am a Browncoat” video initiative.

A few weeks ago we caught up with Michael in a video interview where he talked about the hectic weeks they had completing the film, how challenging the deadlines had been, how proud he was of his cast and crew and what his favourite moments had been.

Congratulations to the whole team for a magnificent effort – I can’t wait to see the final cut!
