Greg Benson is the CEO of Mediocre Films and his YouTube channel recently passed 100 Million views. That’s an incredible achievement.
He moved to Hollywood to finesse his waiting skills but soon found that he just wasn’t cut out for the service industry. To pass the time Greg wrote, produced and directed some of the funniest web videos of recent years like “Greg Hits Hollywood” and “Yeshmin Blechin”. He also directed for other hit shows like “The Guild” and “Gorgeous Tiny Chicken Machine Show”.
In Part 1, Greg talks about how he started in show business and takes us from his Texan roots to his Hollywood home with the stars, how he met his wife, ace producer Kim Evey, and why he moved from TV to web video.
Tune in tomorrow when we talk about Greg’s first taste of Internet fame and just how so many stars of the webseries world like Felicia Day, Payman Benz, Wil Wheaton and Sean Becker have ended up looking down the camera at him.
In our final installment Greg answers some fan questions and tell us exactly how much he enjoys his neighbours.
We also have a bonus video where Greg shares his tips for aspiring directors.
WorldofHiglet is the online persona of writer Mary R. Higgins, a born-again geek reclaiming her heritage bit by bit. A youth filled with sci-fi, horror and adventure in TV, films, computer games and books was crushed by years of office grind. Buffy brought her back into the fold after years of denial. Discovering Firefly sealed the deal. Now she geeks fulltime on her blog ‘the last geek bus home’ . Her first novel ‘Turning left at Albuquerque” is complete and she has just launched HigletFilms.com, a new webvideo entertainment site serving new, original videos every Monday.

Great interview, Higlet! Definitely looking forwards to part two tomorrow. It was pretty cool hearing how Greg Benson got into the web series community – and he certainly is a funny guy! Of course, I didn't know there was such a fascinating story behind your persona as Higlet – next hit web series! Looking forwards to the second part.
Thanks, Chris! Greg was really funny and most of the time I was just sitting there laughing – he basically interviewed himself (well, apart from the bit where he was interviewing me….!)
Greg has an incredible body – of work! And his story is pretty inspirational – he has worked really hard to get where he is. The rest of the interviews are also really interesting and funny.
