Caprica Babe: Sex Sells, Even When It’s Not the Point

By Teresa Jusino – Once again, SyFy sells women short. They say they want to draw in female viewers, and yet they hide the fact that their arsenal now contains an amazing female character while they resort to the same old hottie shots of their female lead. It seems female BSG fans will have to take it upon themselves to let other women know that this incarnation of the Battlestar universe is, in fact, “woman-friendly.” SyFy sure as hell doesn’t seem to want to do it.

Caprica Countdown – Day 11

By WorldofHiglet – Eleven was the number I had the most problem with for this countdown. In the end I resorted to sending a tweet to @BambolaBambina, the twitter account of Alessandra Torresani, asking for help. She replied with her usual wit.

Caprica Countdown – Day 12

By WorldofHiglet – In a few short days the new series from Syfy, Caprica, will burst onto our screens. I’ve been waiting for this since the end of BSG, so to count us down in style I’ve concocted the Caprica Countdown, packed full of must-have* information about the series. And on Release Day, Jan 22th, you can read my report from the Caprica set as you wait anxiously for the 9 PM Eastern Time. And don’t forget the PinkRaygun/Caprica give away Haiku Challenge.

Webseries Review: Bleed

By Melissa Voelker – Vampires are taking over the universe. They are forcing their way into books, flaunting themselves on TV, and now they are even taking over the world wide web. With all this over saturation of the fanged monsters in the media, someone has to take vamps to a whole new level to make them interesting again. The webseries “Bleed,” created by Matt Lawson and Taterfight Productions, promises a lot. The website advertises it as “Kevin Smith meets Buffy,” which certainly sounds like it could be cool – and chatty.

Buffy for Beginners 4.16: Who are You?

By Sabrina Boyer – I know I’ve said this about a lot of episodes, but this one is definitely in my top five. Superficially, I think it’s safe to say that we all have wondered what it would be like to be in another body, to have a different body than what you’ve been given; as a young woman, I had this fantasy a lot. I was chubby, had braces, acne, your basic nerd. If I had had the option of occupying the bodies of either Sarah Michelle Gellar or Eliza Dushku, complete with slayer strength, it’s safe to say I would’ve taken it.

Roaring Back to the Verse with Browncoats: Redemption

By WorldofHiglet – Michael C. Dougherty is the co-creator of Browncoats: Redemption along with his friend, Steven Fisher. This is a fan-made film set in the Firefly/Serenity ‘Verse. With a brand new story, ship and cast, all the monies raised after production costs are met will be going to charity. Since our interview with Michael in April, principle photography has been completed and the film is well on schedule for the premiere at 2010 Dragon*Con. At Dragon*Con 2009 the first trailer was released, giving people an initial look at the cast and a tease about what the film is going to be like. Since then production has been going on apace. I caught up with Michael to find out how things are going.

Heroes: Upon This Rock/Let It Bleed

By TrinityVixen – Hulu, however useful it may be, is not your friends when you watch this show. Not only does it minimize the commercials, thus diminishing the advertising time (during which you might wrap your brain around the latest in bizarre developments) but it also doesn’t say exactly which of a two-part episode came first. I ended up watching the second hour first. Then again, it’s probably Heroes’ fault that I didn’t even notice I’d watched the episode out of order.

Dollhouse: Stop-Loss/The Attic

By Sonia Aurora – DeWitt is being a mega bitch throughout this episode, and Topher knows she’s dragging them towards Hell. I want to punch her, yell at her, shake her by the shoulders and ask why she’s just so horrible. I remember that she can’t hear me screaming at my TV set and I sit back down and lower my shaking fist.
