The run of the institution was the least of this eps problems, in spite of it being very entertaining, like you say. I listed these all in the review, and stand by them. I sometimes wonder what the actors themselves think of eps that are a little wobbly - and whether they felt they had any power to affect a change, you know? I like what you pointed out about Sam, never having forgiven himself, because you're right. It's over, it's done, they had no idea at the time that they were being played. It's time they moved forward! Just walk that way, boys, walk that way....

I'll never be able to NOT stare. If I have any failing that I must own up to, it is that. Sometimes, when the plot doesn't agree with me oh, so very well, instead of going the route of tearing the ep up and spitting it out, I look for my own little shining cloud. And here, I have TWO, both manly men, and pretty in so many ways. Let me count them! Oh, wait, I have.

Good luck with your reviews, Robin. : D

1. There were so many to choose from, it was embarrassing.

4. He is, isn't he? I hope he knows we all think so, because you and I aren't the only fans to have expressed this very view.

5. I think he was a brain surgeon in another life.

7. can't explain it, don't want to try, but I'm with you 100% about that.

8. I almost called the name of the review, "The Truth is in the Lies," because it seemed reflective of the twisty nature of them being insane, and yet totally sane. But then I thought about it, and took a quote from One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest.

1. I wish I could answer you. I think sometimes Show plays fast and loose with it's set up for itself, in response to commercial demands, or those three guys in a suit who want everything to be so vanilla...by this time, they should know we're pretty accepting. But, at the same time, hey, we want what we want, so give it to us!

2. Yes and YES! My goodness, Show should just bite the bullet instead of dancing around it like that. They need to have more courage about expressing love, especially since the Winchesters say it out loud like...never.

3. Yeah, no kidding. Sam doesn't deal with things the way Dean does. If he did, he'd be Dean's clone and as ever lovely as TWO Deans would be (and have been!), it wouldn't be the same world if there was no Sam in it.

4. I get that maybe the woman in the bed is still alive, but Martin is still on his own and at risk. I wish they'd said something about taking care of that situation, but they just left him and waltzed on. In my mind, they took care of it, by sending a lawyer. : D

I realized in the middle of the night that I had referred to the actor playing Martin was also Lazlo Hollyfeld from "Weird Science", when it was actually "Real Genius". Duh.

Interesting, yes, I can see that might be a possibility. What I object to is Sam Dean (which I keep wanting to spell "Dena") waltzing out of there like it didn't matter. You know?

So good to see you posting, Syl, missed these very much! I agree with you that the boys had the run of the institution in ways that would only be acceptable in a TV show! I mentioned that in my review at www.moogi.com, a shameless plug for my own SUPERNATURAL web site.

Otherwise, I thought this episode had a lot going for it. I felt Dean's "self-appointed therapist" both fascinating and creepy, especially the way she first championed him, then treated him as a demon would. Dean never lets himself off the hook, just the way Sam is always giving himself hell for allowing Lucifer to escape. The fact that they didn't realize what they were doing seems besides the point, and besides, it's DONE, now they have to FIX it, so get over it already! I'm ready for the brothers to mend their relationship and go get Lucifer!

Now, sweetie, I must make mention of the dozens of times you speak of how gorgeous the two actors looked in this episode. You really do go on and on about it. Not that I'm criticizing you, not in the least! I agree with you a thousand percent; both of them are WAY too good-looking, and the lighting guys seem to accentuate that in ways that just make me perpetually horny. It just isn't fair. How can I write my reviews of the show for moogi or Winchester Family Business when looking at Jared's gorgeous dimples or cheekbones, or at Jensen's intense green eyes or wondrously chiseled chin?

Ahem.

Great review, Syl.

So glad you are 'back in the saddle again'. :-) And yes, you were missed by many people.

Anyway...my list is going to be a short one this week.

Things I loved

1). Sam was tied up again! Oh my! Let me tell you I had some serious impure thoughts when he was on screen. Still blushing!! Nice photo...by the way. :-)

2). Sam and Dean in white T-shirts!! Another nice photo.

3). Sam high on drugs. That was a funny scene. But one moment, in the scene all goes on my list of thing I didn't like.

4). Jared is go good at comedy.

5). The gross out factor was in full force in the morgue scene. Boy, Sam grows more confident with each passing season.

6). I am glad to see Sam finally taking responsibility for his anger issues and wanting so much to figure out why he feels the way he does. But, again, as much as I enjoyed that scene...I didn't like one part of it...see below.

7). I love any episode where they show insane asylums. The creep factor is always good.

8) I giggled out loud when Dean and Sam were in the doctor's office, trying to get Sam committed. So funny! Yes, their lives are so crazy that if I heard them describing it to me and I didn't know them I would promptly commit them to an asylum!

Things I didn't like

1). Where or where is our Winchester connection?! I know I am repeating myself but this is troubling to me and it is bothering me enough to bring it up again. I want them to be close again and I know they are trying but there is something missing. Plus...I want them to be all in each other's personal space again...like they used to be.

2). The 'I love ya' statement left a really bad taste in my mouth. I have been waiting five years to hear it and I get that!. I wanted to hear 'I love YOU'! With the emphasis being on the YOU!

3). I understand Dean's way of dealing with anything is to bury it so deep in his psyche that it only rears it's ugly head when he is most vulnerable but Sam wanted to talk about his anger issues and Dean shut him down completely. I seriously wanted to smack him!

4). Where is Martin?! How could they leave him? I am hoping this means we will see Martin again sometime.

That's all for now.

Take care

I like to fanwank that because the girl was still alive, she was able to wake up and say that the nurse hurt her, not Martin.

Otherwise, yeah. Plot holes like swiss cheese.

And I'm glad I'm not the only one who likes insane asylum shows. Do you think they're doing this fanfictiony stuff on purpose? Or is it accidental? Are they scouring the internet for ideas? Because if they want good ideas, I've got hundreds of them, and I'll bet you do too. If they would just ask us, we could tell them how to get it right!

Fanfictioniny will soon be making it into the dictionary, I'm sure of it! : D

PS. Yeah, maybe the chick will save Martin and then they will get married and live happily and crazily ever after. It could happen!

Sylvia,

I was so thrilled to finally see your review - I was concerned.

It's great to have both the show and you back with us.

Hi Sylvia

I will be back later with comments but let me say I am glad to finally see your review has been posted. :-) I was really getting worried about you. Seriously! Now, all is right with the world. :-)

Anyway, I had to add one quick thing before I go for now..........

WHERE OR WHERE is our WINCHESTER connection? I miss that more than anything. :-(

Back later....

>>I’m done with the angels and demons and I want the brothers to start healing and start hunting. The way they used to. In the old days. Is that too much to ask?<< Apparently it is. And I have a feeling we're going to get very little of it in this final season, if at all. So at least they're giving us fun "fanfictiony" episodes. I, too, LOVE insane asylum shows. And I was able to ignore the inconsistencies of the hospital security issues, etc, in the fun of this ep. My only beef worth hanging on to is that they seemingly abandoned Martin (whom, btw, I recognized as Lazlo Hollyfeld from the '80's movie "Weird Science"". But the chick was still alive so maybe she was aware enough to inform the doctor that Martin was not the one who attacked her. That's my story and I'm sticking to it. I'm sure someone is writing a tag or missing scene that will handle this very well. What would we do without fanfiction?
