The 2010 Consumer Electronics Show was this past weekend. Since there was no consumer jetback on display, here are my favorite items.
Touch Screen Tablet Computer
This would take me one step closer to feeling like I was walking around the Enterprise. However, I’ll wait for the Apple version.
Samsung E-Reader
I have yet to be terribly impressed by any e-reader (I prefer my reading to take the form of dead trees), but this one from Samsung doubles as a notepad.
Transparent Laptop
This clear laptop holds the same level of fascination as those clear, neon light phones from the 1980s (which I would still totally buy if one turned up at the thrift shop.
Portable Solar Chargers
More post-apocalypse than Star Trek, but still cool.
HydroFill
This gives you the ability to generate your own power on a small scale. HydroFill converts water into hydrogen, then uses that to charge your electronics.
Non-Digital Polaroid Cameras
Instant film prints, just like old times.
Polar Bear Shaped TV
For times when you’d like to cuddle your television. Or for when Heroes makes you cry. Again.

Her earliest influences are Princess Leia, Rainbow Bright, Astronaut Barbie, and her 6th grade teacher, Ms. Palmer. She’s angry that it’s almost 2010 and she still doesn’t have a hovercraft, but will accept a jetpack as consolation. That jetpack had better be pink with a rhinestone monogram.

Nor time machines!
Re: Polar Bear TV – and this is why this was the Consumer Electronics show, and not the Design Show.
Although that TV would also be good for a Lost theme party!
