Janet approaches the Captain’s door. Has stopped short, hearing the Captain and his mom talking.
MOM (off panel): -in the cell for hours! In my own son’s jurisdiction!
Inside the Captain’s office. Mom is standing up, leaning over the desk, scolding the Cap.
CAPTAIN: Mom. . .
Mom from Cap’s POV, face angry.
MOM: Is this the way it is now? Lock Mom up for every sale? What about my hoppers?
Cap’s face, jaw clenched.
CAP: Mom. Cool it.
CAP: Just lay low while I work on this new detective.
JANET (via intercom): Captain? Tulla needs you for a call.
CAP: Thank you, Moore.
At Cap’s door. Cap, with arm around Mom addresses Janet.
CAP: Mom’s learned her lesson. You won’t catch her again, Detective Moore.
JANET: No. I imagine not.
