Mohinder Suresh: Screwing Stuff Up Since 2006

By Lisa Fary

I think Mohinder Suresh is the $h!t catalyst. Everything goes to $h!t when he’s around.

mohinder-seasonHeroes was going along swimmingly this season until he showed up. Even Matt Parkman was doing better until Mo showed up. Sure, Matt had a psychokiller stuck in his head, but it made him more interesting. Then Mo shows up and suddenly Matt is in a  closet with a dude, demanding he take his clothes off.

Mo doesn’t even have to be in the same city, or even state, to screw things up for Matt. He just has to show up in the same episode.

But, it’s not just Matt. It’s also Samuel and Peter.

Peter had been making progress this season, become more of a reasonable guy, less prone to rash behavior. New!Peter would have grabbed Rene by the arm and demanded the truth rather than accepting a shabby business card and a cryptic message. New!Peter would have called Bennet and shared information.

With Mo in the ep, he’s back to Old Peter. Feeling the influence of Mohinder, Old Peter takes the business card, follows clues, and walks right into Sylar’s plan.

I guess that’s expected. Not being a moron is new to Peter and he’s bound to backslide from time to time, making a stupid mistake.

Samuel, though. The dashing carnie ringleader of my dreams. Samuel, who gives people exactly what the deserve, whether they’re uppity rich folk or redneck cops. He gets a whiff of Mohinder, and Samuel becomes a sweaty, drunk screw up, dim eyed, and only able to follow brother Joseph’s directions.

If she’s smart, Mo’s long term girlfriend of one whole week will get far, far away from him.  At least, in the meantime, he’s restrained in a mental facility, courtesy of Hiro.  Maybe Matt will wind up in a nearby cell and they can work out their differences in group therapy. They’ll then realize how much happier they were together, rather than with these women who flirt with waterboys and make shrill proclamations.

The straight jacket, padded cell, and pharmaceuticals are really what’s best for Mo. It’ll keep him from hurting science.

She’s angry that it’s almost 2010 and she still doesn’t have a hovercraft, but will accept a jetpack as consolation. That jetpack had better be pink with a rhinestone monogram.

I just couldn't get into the current season of Heroes, but maybe I should give it another chance… until I get to the Mohinder parts, at least.
