Scary Word of the Day: Feminized Sci-Fi

There’s no place for women in science fiction. It’s about men! Manly men! Doing manly things! For the entertainment of other men! Men viewing at home, not in their respective fictional ‘verses! But, not in a slashy way! You know what I mean!

Throw a woman in there who does anything other than jiggle her boobs, stand by her man, and need rescuing, and you’re skating close to that “feminized sci-fi” I’ve heard tell about.

Lisa Fary is a graduate of the creative writing program at Florida State University and holds an advanced degree in Special Education. Her earliest influences are Princess Leia, Rainbow Bright, Astronaut Barbie, and her 6th grade teacher, Ms. Palmer.
