I have to agree with you. I've been rather disappointed with how the SyFy airing of Monster has been handled…frankly, I had hoped that what I perceived as an altered soundtrack and shorter episodes was just my imagination, but there you are. I would also like to have an unedited version of the series, but if that happens, I have no doubt that it'll take a long time.

325 minutes for 15 episodes means this "official release" will be comprised of the patch-job episodes Syfy's airing, trimmed for time and with a butchered soundtrack (what to facilitate the shorter scenes, and all). Cutting 2 minutes and 40 seconds from each episode is, like you said, a travesty. I'm extremely disappointed. Monster's one of my all-time favorites. I really hope they eventually release a completely unfooled-around-with version. THAT I'll buy.

Yes! You should definitely try it! I mean, anime is like any kind of television — there are great ones and there are subpar ones. I'll watch anything, but I'm pretty particular about what I'll recommend. Can't go wrong with Monster, though!

Wow! This article is great! I'm not the biggest into anime, but that's due more to a lack of exposure than interest. Reading this, though, makes me think I'm seriously missing something!

Awesome article! Monster is a very VERY good story. I work at a comic shop in Philly and I recommend this book to everyone, manga fans and American comics fans alike.
