There is one thing that’s always bugged me about the undead. No, not the smell and general lack of hygiene. It’s the continual need to eat despite the absence of working intestinal organs.
I mean, how do they poop it? If nothing works in there?

I was going to skip the Monsters vs. Aliens Halloween special and watch It’s The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown just to spite CG animation, while muttering about how these kids today don’t appreciate quality, hand-drawn animation. It’s all computers with the online and the texting on the cell phones, bah!

There’s no place for women in science fiction. It’s about men! Manly men! Doing manly things! For the entertainment of other men! Men viewing at home, not in their respective fictional ‘verses! But, not in a slashy way! You know what I mean!

Or, “I Watched Them So You Don’t Have To” By Gil James Bavel – A friend of mine is hosting a small party on Halloween since it falls on a Saturday this year, and I wanted to screen the perfect movies so they wouldn’t bore the socks off of people. I was looking for some good, strong mid-sixties Euro-horror that predate the crappy slasher flicks, but still had enough gore to satisfy without being over the top. My favorite among these types is Amando D’ Ossorio’s Tombs of the Blind Dead, but even though it’s a classic, I wasn’t sure my fellow guests would wait out its rather slow start.

Bloodsuckers are starting to feel blase to me. I used to get so excited about vampires on TV. I mean, it’s vampires! On TV!. And now, I’m like, “Vampires. On TV. Meh.”

By WorldofHiglet – I had never really watched Stargate. I missed SG1 and then felt I didn’t want to have to buy into another new series when there was so much to catch up on. The two-hour premiere aired before the press tour so I dutifully tuned in to see what it was all about. It was intriguing, with some spectacular set pieces and a whole host of characters. It was slightly confusing at first because there were so many people, but the storyline clipped along and we were very quickly into the action.

John and I love Halloween even though we never seem to do anything for it other than buy candy, carve a pumpkin, then eat the candy, which was never intended for trick-r-treaters anyway.

By Lisa Fary – Given the choice between playing Survivor: Universe on a sub-zero rock and being a fire-roasted vegetable in the universe’s largest hibachi, I’d take the turbulence, heat, and death, thanks. At least I wouldn’t have to camp. And there are naked dudes on the ship (of course we have pics!).

SyFy Press Tour – Stargate: Universe By Sylvia Bond – In their minds, naturally, the Stargate franchise has created strong women and enjoys developing their stories, like they said. But coming from a viewer who is female, I would say that their perspective is a little skewed. The problem with strong female characters is that TV-land is run by men and while they might start with an uzi-toting, commander-in-chief, muscle-toned female character, eventually she is relegated to jiggling her boobs, showering naked, having babies, and letting her hair hang down.

By Brian Thompson – So it’s the middle of October. A dark and gloomy night. I’ve been up past one in the morning browsing the internet for information, pornography, and information about pornography. (Findings: It’s sexy.) I thought my office would be celebrating Christopher Columbus’ bludgeoning of little brown people by allowing everyone to stay home and catch up on their stories, otherwise I would have bumped up my porno schedule. Turns out I was wrong about the office holiday. Apparently my bosses are Leif Ericson fans. And worse, my dog woke me up to take her outside at 4:30am.

By Teresa Jusino – Rachel Klein, geek theater director extraordinaire, is originally from New Mexico, and yet the times I’ve spoken with her – all self-assurance and dark, trendy clothing – she seems more “New York” than I do, and I’m a native. So, it was only appropriate that we meet for an interview at the Waverly Diner in Greenwich Village to discuss how she is inspired by b-movies and genre literature, as well as her penchant for glitter, suspenders, and go-go girls.
