I just found this website and I absolutely love your reviews. :)
Just want to point out, though, that it's possible Bobby can't walk because of Zachariah, not because of any wound he sustained while being possessed or whatever. Castiel tells Zachariah to put the boys back together, which I guess would exclude Bobby, since he's hardly a "boy," and Zachariah is a douchebag. Castiel arrived on scene after Zachariah used his evil angel tricks, so it's probably safe to assume Castiel didn't know Bobby would need fixing too.

Hi -I just found this site and I will be watching your reviews on my rss feed from now on- they're amazing!

I personally loved the slash writer who got to visit the boys, I guffawed loudly throughout those scenes; As a Samgirl I totally understood her sentiments with regards to Dean. He's alright looking, but yeah-never understood the attraction.

The only gripe I have is-enough with the Angels already. It's set up now so that the whole series will entail moar angels, finding a way to kill/avoiding lucifer and invariably the finale will involve some big show down with angels/demons and aaargh! No more I say!

I would be perfectly content to watch them hunt the monster of the week for another 4 seasons or so. I don't want to watch another season with multiple winged beings particularly if it's going to be the final one.

I pretty much liked what you liked. : D
But what I like is your outright honesty in wanting S5 to be like s2!!! Hear, hear! Because while I can appreciate the new stuff (any day that SPN airs is a good day) in the back of my mind, I keep comparing the story and the boys to the way they were....misty water colored memories and all that. Except the boys are even better looking now....or maybe it's just AS good looking, but in a different way. Mmmmmmmmmm.......... : D

Hey, thank you! I think we're lucky to have gotten the fifth season after all, because if it had ended after S4? I would have gone stark, raving mad!

Great review as always Sylvia :) Thanks! To be honest I didn't particularly like the episode. I'm very sick of the angels. Although I don't mind Castiel. One angel is enough! The only bits I really enjoyed were the Sam and Dean moments, with Sam attempting to apologise and Dean shutting him down...particularly the last scene. And all the Sam hair moments were appreciated of course ;) What I want is for all the lucifer/angel stuff to go away, and for season 5 to be more like season 2. That being said, I'm sure the season will be a great one, and I can't wait for the rest :)

I like all the things you want to see with Sam, I want to see them too, especially his reaction to The Mom being the hunter of the family. Your list makes it really clear how much they're not showing us.

There is no such thing in my mind as too much Dean, but there is such a thing as not enough SAM. I'll say it a million times if I have to. But it's not just Samgirls who want these things, but the STORY wants them! The balance IS out of whack, too much angels, not enough Sam AND Dean. : D

I think we are agreeing but in different ways. I like your perspective that whatever their choices, both brothers chose something other than the other brother, in that each one chose himself. Although, when Sam chose himself, Ruby was part of that package, if that makes any sense. They've both been very stubborn, NAUGHTY boys and I hope this season sees them getting back together!

I'm glad you enjoy the reviews!

Oh, I see! I hadn't thought about it like that before, thinking along the more simple lines that the knife was the cause of all Bobby's troubles. I like your take on this, that Meg or the possession or the fight caused it.

And thanks for the update about the Colt - again I assumed that regardless, the bullet would kill the host, but then, of course, John didn't die, did he. At least not then. : D

Thanks for the clarification on how the bullet from the Colt can work - I guess I just assumed that the bullet killed, period and the host body died, end of story.

I appreciate your viewpoint, and yes, Show likes its actors to look pretty. But when Dean got beat up, he was on oxygen at the very least, so Show's MO has been different in the past - I would have expected something similar for Bobby, maybe the more grotty hospital details could have been left out, but I reckon a gut wound would have to be pretty painful, so morphine? Oxygen for the recovery? Something!

Thanks for the info about the time it would take to die from a gut wound, I didn't know that.

Bobby sitting up after a a stab to the gut, is completely improbable. The lack of a nasal canula, or a dialysis machine or even just a catheter and bag present is also improbable, However, since SHOW likes to make it's male leads infallible, at least physicaly, it's just typical SHOW to me. It's hero, he-man BS, and it's SHOW's MO. I have to say that I disagree with you on the probability that Bobby would have lasted the 15 minutes you gave him to get to the hospital. Gut wounds, be knife or bullet or arrow or spear are the most painful and take the longest to kill. It is possible to last with a Gut wound up to an hour.

Part 2
Second, we know from John and the colt that if the attack with the weapon is not a killing blow that the demon can be dispelled or destroyed and the host can survive. A person can live from one to two hours depending on where it is and it is not likely to be the cause of Bobby loosing his legs as I doubt he severed his spinal chord. What I think is that either the damage was caused when Meg attacked Bobby, in order to break his protections and put her flunky inside, the flunky did something stupid with the body before we saw Bobby arrive, the spine was broken in the fight but the demon kept on going like an evil energizer bunny (note I have a family member who broke the spine falling wrong against a table) or when the demon died the electrical surge through the body damaged Bobby's nervous system enough that he can't walk.

Hi I loved the Meta/Review. I would like to answer a few of the questions raised, though others may have already covered them. First, the Impala was at Bobby's with Dean when Dean was kidnapped by the angels, it never followed Dean to the convent. The car at the convent was the orange mustang? that Ruby owned and that is where the dead nurse is.

Thanks Sylvia and Robijean for your replies to my comment. I was really worried that my post would come off as a Sam vs. Dean thing as so often happens when anyone tries to defend Sam and which I despise. This is precisely why I love coming here and reading your intelligent, insightful, unbiased reviews. You both made some very valid points that I took to heart and really thought about.

I guess I am feeling very frustrated about the treatment of Sam. It seems that every choice he has made turns out wrong. He leaves for Stanford to leave a life he hates and be his own man and his girlfriend is killed and his brother and father call him selfish. He refuses to kill his Dad possessed by the YED and his Dad dies. He refuses to kill an unconscious Jake and Jake kills him and Dean makes a pact to go to hell for his life. He listens to Dean about not tapping into his powers and Dean goes to hell. He taps into his powers and starts the Apocalypse and frees Lucifer. He prays everyday but the angels reject him. Sam can do nothing right.

Add to that how we never get to see any of Sam's reactions ON SCREEN to all the major things that happened to him. We get 1 episode where he tries to deal with his Dad's death. We get 5 seconds of him crying over Dean's death in NRFTW. We never get to see how he felt to find out that his Mom wanted out of the hunting life and was ready to run away with John (or if Dean ever told him about that). We never got to see how he started drinking demon blood, something he found so abhorrent when he learned the YED had fed it to him as a baby.

This is the balance that I feel is so out of whack between the brothers that the Show presents us. I feel I know every single little thing about Dean and have been SHOWN every single issue about him. And now I am sick and tired of Dean. He bores me to tears and this makes me very, very, sad. He is just a 2 dimensional character who swings from OTT angst to OTT not so comical one-liners. And Sam is just the scew up of a little brother who is too stupid to do anything right.

Bring back the balance, writers and Kripke. You don't need to sacrifice one brother's storyline for the other and yeah, the angel story is getting very old!

That's exactly my point. There is no "culprit" here. No one that the finger can definitively be pointed at and told "YOU did this". The problem is that Show doesn't seem to agree. They seem content to pretend that Sam did everything all by his not so little self, and therefore he should be ostracized.

I do and don't agree that Sam hands down absolutely should have chosen Dean. On the surface, yes, I totally agree. But then, the only time he made that actual choice was after Dean laid down the ultimatum in When the Levee Breaks. First of all, Dean knew good and well how Sam has always reacted to "My way or the highway" speeches, so it was a very poor tactic to take. Secondly, Dean had spent all the time leading up to that ultimatum waffling over what they should do and how they should do it. From Sam's POV, Dean had to look indecisive at best. Dean went in there knowing he wasn't just dealing with his brother, he was dealing with an addict, and Bobby warned him that he had to handle this the right way, so they could get Sam back. Then Dean went in there and did exactly as he damned well pleased, and spectacularly succeeded in pushing Sam away from him.

But most importantly, Dean had just tricked Sam, and lied to him, to lock him in that panic room to detox, and then treated him like scum he scraped off his shoe (at least while Sam was still coherent). So really, from Sam's perspective, he had no reason to trust Dean. For all he knew, if he agreed to go with Dean he'd find himself locked back in there while (as far as he still knew at the moment) Lilith brought the apocalypse down around their ears. Sam still believed he could stop Lilith, that he needed to stop her, and based on Dean's past behaviour and actions, he had no reason to believe that Dean was going to let him do that, much less help him.

Obviously Dean did what he did in locking Sam in the panic room with good intentions. But since he's not inclined to consider Sam's intentions when judging his brother's actions, I'm less than inclined to consider his. Dean came back spouting crap about the smarter brother being back, and expecting to fall right back into his former place as the center of Sam's universe, and be the one Sam followed, and when it didn't happen, he got angry. I get that he'd just come back from Hell, and he was at his wit's end, and he probably couldn't act any other way. But Sam had just walked through his own Hell, suffered terribly here on Earth, and he probably couldn't do it any other way either. Dean was too broken down to properly handle Sam, and vice versa. Yet again, the problem is that NO one, including Dean, seems to give a rat's ass about Sam or what he went through while Dean was gone. Instead of acknowledging the shades of grey that should exist in Sam's character, they want to paint him as totally black and white.

I was also reminded yesterday about how Sam suffered at the Trickster's hands. In Sam's mind, he was without Dean a lot longer than the four months that Dean was in Hell. Sam did wrong, and plenty of it. He wasn't alone in it though, and he wasn't doing it to be "selfish" as Kripke insists. Unless they want to retcon Sam's actions for the last two seasons. Which I wouldn't put past them.
