Lost: Namaste

By Lisa Fary

Sawyer, something happened to me tonight. I think I fell in love with you.

sawyer-loveIt was the way you handled the sudden arrival of Jack, Kate, Hurley, and Sayid. Without hesitation, you knew the best course of action and took it, without having emo emotions or casting tragic expressions. You also let Juliet in on the secret; you shared what you knew and the details of the plan, and she was able to help you out.

Imagine how different life on Craphole Island would have been if everyone shared like that all the time!

I’d already been endeared toward you in the last episode, Sawyer, and this deepened my positive feelings. But, it wasn’t until you dressed down Jack, spelled out how lousy a leader he’d been, and relieved him of command, that those feeling turned to something like love.

And then you capped it all off with a fun fact about Winston Churchill, a beer, and a book.

I don’t want Juliet out of the picture (I think she’s about to have her hands full with Kate), and it would never work between us, anyway. I live in Philadelphia and you’re a fictional character on a TV show. I accept that.

janitor-jackI also accept Jack as a janitor. There’s a certain poetic justice to that. It fits in with Sawyer’s assertion that, as a leader, Jack simply reacted rather than acted. Janitors react to the need for clean up, the need to maintain. Really, it’s a perfect career move for the drunk doc.

And, Jack? Wipe that pissy bitch look off your face and be a team player. For once.

You too, Kate. You’re one pouty look away from being thrown to the Dharma wolves by Juliet. That’s what that mess at registration was about: Juliet showing you her reach and influence on Craphole Island circa 1977. She can fudge the paperwork to get you in, and can just as easily do so to get you out.  Don’t push your luck by throwing around your Kate-Drama. You know what I’m talking about. The running back and forth between Jack and Sawyer, not letting them get close to anyone else without deciding between them yourself.

One final note: Ben has a creepy face, but it’s even creepier on Baby Ben.

Lisa Fary's earliest influences are Princess Leia, Rainbow Bright, Astronaut Barbie, and her 6th grade teacher, Ms. Palmer. She's angry that it's 2011 and she still doesn't have a hovercraft, but will accept a jetpack as consolation. That jetpack had better be pink with a rhinestone monogram.

Sawyer and Juliet is my favorite thing about Lost right now. I swear if Kate ruins it…but maybe she won't have a chance to. I cheered when I saw Juliet putting Kate in her place in the previews for next week.

I got the feeling, at the end of Sawyer and Jack's conversation, that Jack was a bit relieved to not be making decisions for once. Maybe he saw Sawyer's point?

What I really like is the way both sets of people faired in the past three years: Sawyer and co tripped through time and are stuck in the 70's yet they all seem content with their lives.

Jack and co. went back to the mainland and while they may have started at normal lives, they all ended up in something really effed up. Hmm.

I'm enjoying InCharge!Sawyer, too. (Although I kinda miss Josh Holloway's stubble.) I'm just dreading the inevitable love-triangle (-square? -parallelogram?) fallout with Kate, Sawyer, and Juliet (and Jack?). It's strange to think how entangled those four have become over the last couple of seasons. A lot of it seems to stem from Kate wanting to have the options on Jack and Sawyer without actually wanting to be with either of them. Kinda reminds me of a girl I knew in college in that way.

They did a really good job casting Baby Ben. As soon as they showed his face I knew who that kid was.

    Also? Adorable tiny Charlotte!

Sawyer hasn't been doing the right thing. All he's doing is protecting his own ass. Why couldn't he tell them the truth? They are on a weird ass where time travel isn't all that strange a suggestion. He didn't because he is a selfish D bag and all this lying will backfire. I'm sorry, but when someone risks their life and travels through time to save you, that isn't the time to chew them out like an arrogant like an prick.

He was also protecting Jin, Juliet, the Mad Physicist, and the Ghost Whisperer. The goal was to stay on the island and wait for Locke – if you recall, in the last ep, the Dharma crew was hell bent on sending them off the island.

"Ben has a creepy face, but it’s even creepier on Baby Ben."

Baby Ben got significantly more creepy in this episode than he was when we were first introduced to him. This must be him post meeting with Richard Alpert.

Also, I too LOVE that Jack and Kate are being taken down a peg. And I agree with Rhea that I think Jack is ready to take a backseat. This janitor thing really might be what he needs right now.
