I first heard Half Hour Wasted during my short lived Podcast Workout series. That episode, #16, had the distinction of being the soundtrack to an awkward encounter in the cardio room with a guy I’d broken up with years prior because he drank cosmos. And because he was annoying.
A lot of fledgling podcasts disappear after a few weeks or months, but Half Hour Wasted has kept going these past two years and even has a sort of spin off: The Legion of Dudes. Half Hour Wasted is a weekly podcast about comics, television, and movies with Brad, Frank, and Bill, three geeks in Texas who asked me to join them for this week’s episode.
HHW hosts Brad, Frank and Bill managed not to tease when I gave them the wrong phone number and said things like “peachy keen” (which, thankfully, was not recorded – I am trying to kick the “peachy keen” habit). Who knows if that would continue if they knew I was in the bathroom for my entire guest appearance.
Which, I guess now they do.
OK, it’s not like that. Our apartment is incredibly small and the bathroom is the only room with a door that closes. John was working while I was on the line with the HHW crew and I wanted to keep the noise down, so I closed the door and leaned against the sink.
I really would rather have been in the same room as Brad, Frank and Bill, who sounded like they were having a lot of fun talking about Watchmen and JJ Abrams’ Star Trek movie. Sure, I was on speakerphone, but you know how speakerphone is: you’re on the line, but you’re still drinking alone.
Wow. That came out far more depressing than intended.
You can get new episodes of Half Hour Wasted every Monday. For episode #114, wherein I guest-geek from my bathroom, click here.
For in depth looks at graphic novels, check out The Legion of Dudes on Thursdays. The Dudes recently wrapped up a twelve part look at Watchmen and are now tackling my gateway drug, Kingdom Come.

Sweetness! I'll have to listen.
DON'T DROP PEACHY KEEN, I THINK IT'S COOL. Seriously.
Nice! This podcast sounds right up my alley! Can't wait to listen!
Also, I second Rhea's thoughts on "peachy keen." If it's good enough for Death in the Sandman series, it should be more than good enough for you!
Oh, I LOVE Kingdom Come…that comic is so so incredible….speaking of, I need to get my copy back….hmmm…
My peachy keen is "crimeny!" I get teased on it all the time, but I don't care…say yes to peachy keen!
