Heroes: Isn’t He Dead?

By Lisa Fary

A bomb. A city in danger. It always comes down to an exploding man.

But first, I wouldn’t blame Angela Petrelli one bit if she went bat guano crazy, disposed of both of her sons, and decided to start over with this motherhood business because her kids are screw ups.

Mama Petrelli could still adopt a brood from around the world, trying the matriarch thing again without the taint of the Petrelli gene pool. She could set up play dates with Brad and Angelina.

To his credit, Peter has wised up a bit in the past few eps and learned not to trust Nathan (who can’t understand why baby bro won’t trust him – he has such an honest, square jaw).

Then there’s Nathan.

Why, oh why didn’t Nathan just fire the scrawny bald guy the minute he became a problem? Did Nathan really think that his chiseled good looks and aristocratic manner would win Agent Weasel over? The Agent Weasels hate the Nathan Petrellis of this world. The Nathans are a pampered, power grabbing bunch while the Agent Weasels do the real work that makes them look good in the media. At least, I’m betting that’s how Agent Weasel sees it.

And it’s Agent Weasel who has led us to yet another city on fire, exploding man situation. In this case, Matt Parkman, hijacked by Agent Weasel and rigged up with the bomb vest he painted in the style of Time Sale over and over again the night before.

One more thing.

Didn’t the Puppetmaster die? Like, didn’t Sylar pull his brain out through his nose before the Company building blew up?  One of those things should have killed him, preventing him from showing up in Claire’s house with lies about popcorn in the microwave.

Right?

Lisa Fary’s early exposure to classic Battlestar Galactica in 1979 is largely responsible for her lifelong interest in science fiction and her childhood ambition of being an intergalactic space cowgirl. She thinks diagramming sentences is a fun alternative to Sudoku.

Lisa Fary's earliest influences are Princess Leia, Rainbow Bright, Astronaut Barbie, and her 6th grade teacher, Ms. Palmer. She's angry that it's 2011 and she still doesn't have a hovercraft, but will accept a jetpack as consolation. That jetpack had better be pink with a rhinestone monogram.

Given that Agent Weasel seems to have a direct line to the president, I don't know if Nathan has the authority to fire him. More and more it seems like Nathan is allowed to be a part of Operation Round-up mostly as a source of information that they can otherwise ignore. Nobody obeys his orders except the leave-Claire-alone mandate, which they seem to be stretching to its limit.

And… I don't remember if the Puppetmaster is supposed to be dead. The Heroes wiki just says that Sylar disabled him at Primatech (http://heroeswiki.com/Puppet_master), so it's possible that he survived. I don't know why our resident brain sucker wouldn't want his power, though, unless he figured that telekinesis is close enough.

I missed this episode so I have a quick question: The explosion drawing on the floor wasn't leftover from S1? It was a new explosive drawing? The showed it at the end of the last episode, but I hoped it was leftover from S1…
