Kyle XY: Psychic Friend

By Lisa Fary

When I have to decide to record Heroes or Kyle XY in a couple weeks, I’m going to have to think about it. The problem is that, with my DVR, I can’t record two shows and watch a third and as of February 2nd, Kyle XY, Heroes, and 24 will all be airing at 9PM. And there’s no way I’m paying 99 cents an episode to watch Heroes on demand.

24 or Heroes is just going to have to be watched on Hulu – I’m totally caught up in season three of Kyle XY.

This week, everyone gets stalky.

After last week’s post-prom kidnapping, Kyle gets all stalky with Amanda, who is experiencing headaches and telegraphing just how little she knows about grown-up drinking (you don’t have a hangover for a week, dear). That could be meant to show how wholesome she is, but do we really need that? The girl belongs in a Disney movie. She should be surrounded by cartoon animals all the time.

For now
, the only cartoon animals surrounding her are Kyle (being overprotective) and Jessie (being Kyle’s overprotective proxy after Amanda exerts her independence).

A couple things about Amanda: First, I’m already really sick of her being the damsel in distress. Take a freaking self-defense class or carry pepper spray like the rest of us. Second, she shows a refreshing amount of common sense when it comes to creepy guy behavior.

After last week’s post-prom, drunken kiss between Declan and Blondie, Lori is getting all stalky with both of them.  Lori just happens to wander up when they’re kissing, or Declan is touching a hand, or being in the same room? Yeah. . . Lori is starting to go a little Fatal Attraction.

Meanwhile, Trager Boy is telegraphing his new sexual activity by calling his parents by their first names (Do kids do that? Do the really start calling parents by first names?) and taking the responsibility for making dinner.

There were also some touching moments with Jessie, who has been abandoned, and the Tragers. I’m finding myself caught up in her storyline, wanting her to have a stable home life, and wanting her to get together with Kyle. Jessie has some darkness, but I like her so much better than Amanda.

On another note, I like this new villain. He’s sneaky – like actually sneaky, not a corporation trying to be sneaky, which is usually about as slick as me trying to dance – and he’s got great hair. That’s always a plus.
