Frank Miller Leers at Buck Rogers

No. Buck Rogers. OMG. Frank Miller. Please, NO.

I just read on Hollywood Reporter that Odd Lot Entertainment is trying to buy the rights to Buck Rogers to hand over to Frank Miller for a Frank Miller-ized, big screen adaptation.

I think I threw up in my mouth a little bit.

HR reports:

“It’s expected to be a darker take, with many of Miller’s signature visual elements and themes, such as corruption and redemption.”

I wonder if Colonel Wilma Deering will be dropped down to secretary or prostitute and will be gratuitously naked.  Or she could be Elektra.  Frank Miller and his women are always a crapshoot.

Lisa Fary’s early exposure to classic Battlestar Galactica in 1979 is largely responsible for her lifelong interest in science fiction and her childhood ambition of being an intergalactic space cowgirl. She thinks diagramming sentences is a fun alternative to Sudoku.

Lisa Fary's earliest influences are Princess Leia, Rainbow Bright, Astronaut Barbie, and her 6th grade teacher, Ms. Palmer. She's angry that it's 2011 and she still doesn't have a hovercraft, but will accept a jetpack as consolation. That jetpack had better be pink with a rhinestone monogram.

Question: Why does everyone feel it's necessary to go all dark now? The new Superman movie is facing the same issues. Stupid Dark Knight, yes I said it. I want my campy Adam West movie back!
