Yes, I am very passionate about this show and sometimes I get carried away with the comments. But, I really enjoy coming here and sharing with you.

Yes, I freaked out when I found out the young man next to Dean was his father! And, the way Jensen said ‘Dad’ so softly melted my heart. I had no idea it was John. I freaked out so many times during the show and when I saw ‘to be continued’ on the screen I think I screamed out loud in pain. Yes, this show owns me too.

Anyway, I don’t see how anyone couldn’t like this episode when there was so much to love. I guess I was lucky because I only stumbled across one negative review. Most people are really excited about the quality of the show this year. I know I am!

Thank you for your lovely post! I refuse to be swayed by other people’s negativity!! And the funny thing was, when I sent in my review, it was around 6:05 pm on Sunday, so I turned on TCM to see what great movie was on. Yeah. It was “Pollyanna,” staring Haley Mills. I about came off my chair! How serendipitous is that?

And thank you for your explanations, I can totally go with the fact that neither John nor Mary wanted to talk about that night, and all the memories associated with it. Although, considering, surely John and/or Mary might have had some memories of a young hunter named Dean who came into their midst? At least Mary would have, though Dean would have been too young by the time she died to recognize who her son was going to grow up to be. Oh…man. My brain hurts. I think I’ll just stick with your “all roads” theory. : D

As for the time paradox with the car and such-I’m pretty sure it means that in our present time with the show timeline Dean had already gone back in time and done the car thing…I think it’s sort of Show’s way of pointing out to us that “All roads lead to the same destination”.

I loved that Sam and Dean were named after Mary’s parents! I think that it didn’t get brought up because Mary probably didn’t want to talk about her dead parents/her life as a hunter, and even after she died John left it at that…plus I’m sort of under the impression he didn’t talk about his dead wife too much.

I am soooooooo happy with this episode.

Oh, good! There’s two of us, don’t tell! I want what you want, and agree with you completely. Collins is doing a great job making this character mysterious without being a cliche angel. I’m eager to see how it all turns out, and I would like front row seats, please, when he and Sam finally meet.

Because they will, won’t they? Otherwise, the soap angel will become Dean’s very own Aloysius Snuffleupagus, and we’ll have many, many eps where a frustrated Dean will try to prove that the angel is real, only to have Sam shake his head and sigh and say, “Snuffy’s got to go!”

No you are not alone concerning the soap angel. I don’t find him hot either but the character is intriguing and mysterious and Misha is an excellent actor. I will give Show that. Dean and Casteil play off each well but I can’t wait for him to interact with Sam too.

There’s always so much to talk about in each ep, so I try to write about what affects me most, which usually turns out to be what affects everyone else!

Not, of course, that you have to pick just one, but many fangirls (and boys) I’ve noticed, are either in the Sam or the Dean camp, which makes for interesting feedback. I watched Mad Men, I did. I started drooling for ’60′s clothes, though, and had to turn it off cause there’s no way I’m going to start wearing a girdle.

Really, you’re so right, the boys are beautiful, I would like to see more. Is that wrong, do you think? Perhaps we could start a petition, or maybe one of those postcard campaigns? That otta get us exactly what we want!

Grandma, we’ll miss her. She knew how to keep her men in line! And she wasn’t afraid, I liked that strength. But I might be the only True Fan who doesn’t think that the soap angel is hot. I mean, he’s okay and all, the character’s interesting, but I don’t see the hottness, nope. That’s okay, there are plenty of fans who do!

Hey, thank you! I’m so glad you liked it! It was totally fun to write, and a lot of that has to do with how GREAT this ep was!! If this is a sign of what’s to come, we are all going to have such a fine time, we won’t even recognize ourselves.

As for the paradoxes, I didn’t actually spot any that couldn’t be worked out in one way or another. I mean, yeah, Show could have explained them maybe, but even though they made my brain hurt, they worked. Like the Impala one; we know The Dad owned the Impala, Dean’s being there didn’t really change that. Or Libby. The Dad’s journal says she was gutted, it’s likely the YED had the chance to do that. The other one, Dean’s taking them to Libby, did this bring the Campbells to the attention of the YED, or did he already know about them? That’s one I don’t know. Anyway, it’s all good, cause, like you say, the chemistry was RIGHT ON!

It was a good ep, wasn’t it? My review almost wrote itself because of that, with all those details and the tie ins to the Pilot and other asides that the boys have made, the comments and concerns. I always used to remember that Sam wanted to be normal, but in doing these reviews, he wants to be safe, which is even more poignant. I love the fact that The Mom feels exactly the same way. Exactly.

Flashback eps are my favorite kind, sounds like you adore them as well. Factoids about the boys’ pasts are the ultimate in fannish goodness. And hey, I didn’t even think about the plaid shirts, and the hands in pockets, man! Good call there, wish I’d noticed that. Was too busy staring at Dean’s eyelashes I guess.

Sam, Sam, Sam. I agree with you totally on what you want to see, and can’t wait. Two things, for Sam to meet the soap angel and for Sam to find out where Dean was, what he saw, who he met. I mean, can you imagine? He’d have LOVED to have been there, to meet John and Mary when they were young, all of it. He’ll be picking Dean’s brains forever about that, IF Dean tells him, which he might not, considering how little the brothers have been really communicating.

Yeah, I’m a nut like that, the ride was SO much fun, right on par with the Indiana Jones ride at Disneyland, with lots of “you are there” going on. Be sure and try that one if you get a chance, okay?

Time travel paradoxes…my brain wants to go there very badly, but I resist as best I can. Sometimes I can figure it out, but mostly it’s an energy suck to go there, so I’m going to follow your lead and just Let It Be. Right? Cause who cares when we got all that lovely family goodness!

Ackles does ROCK. Every time I start thinking that, well, maybe I’ve been exaggerating to myself, along he comes and whaps it out of the ballpark again. I’m looking forward to seeing his career grow, and for him to get the recognition that he deserves.

And oh, the “to be continued?” I saw the previews, and it was a bunch of blood and teeth and an Angry Sam. I hope there’s an argument too, but it looks like there’s going to be more than that. Maybe even some wall slamming! (Remember those?)

You could write a book about how much you loved this episode, and I think you just did! Your passion and Love for Show is plain to see, and I think you are not alone, so not alone in this. Did you freak when Dean walked into that diner? Did you know the guy sitting there was John? I didn’t, and then I FREAKED – and kept freaking, which is what made this ep so much fun.

On top of which, like you pointed out, we got to find out all kinds of stuff, esp the secret about The Mom. What I liked especially well was how gentle John was, how sweet and innocent. That makes his transformation into a hunter all the more poignant. Show so owns me.

It sounds like you liked everything I did, which was, um, EVERYTHING. Hard not to like when Show gave us exactly what we wanted, eh? And I was affected like you were. I stayed away from the negative reviews, though I know they were out there, because I didn’t want them to spoil my squee. We are in for a terrific season!
