Geek Survey: Rove Totally Matters

Rove says Michelle did OK, but not great while talking about her family. She talked about them in a way that was emotional and warm and sensitive and connected with people. If that’s “OK, but not great,” what the hell constitutes “great”?
He also thinks that Michelle didn’t adequately express her love for America. Because just saying “I love America” and meaning it, isn’t enough. America is a fickle lover and she wants flowers and a greeting card. Preferably one that sings and is an odd shape, so Michelle has to pay extra postage. America is just that special, and needs to be told she’s pretty and awesome as often as possible because she has low self-esteem.
Really, what else can Michelle say to prove she loves her country? I suppose she could have done one of the following:
- Say “I love America great big, humongous lots!”
- Say “I love America thiiis much!” as she spreads her arms as far apart as she can.
- Deliver her speech dressed in an American flag swimsuit and Uncle Sam top hat.
Rove didn’t get a sense of deep warmth between B-Rock and Michelle and feels it’s a very business-like relationship. Note to Rove: just because a woman has a career and is a successful and impressive person in her own right, does not immediately mean that the couple in question has a “business-like” relationship. A wife doesn’t have to be an appendage, blinklessly staring in admiration at her husband as he speaks. That’s not warmth. That’s Stepford.
Besides, did Rove not see the way Michelle glowed at B-Rock on the giant video screen?
Another point of contention for Rove was the nature of the speech. She gave shout outs to Joe Biden and Hillary Clinton and spoke out against the war in Iraq, which he felt were purely political.
The Fox News anchor countered with, “It’s a political convention, Karl.”
All in all, Rove says that Michelle rallied the delegates, but missed an opportunity to warmly humanize B-Rock.
Because if there’s anything Karl Rove knows about, it’s warmth and humanity.
