For all you X-Philes out there who can’t seem to remember details about the series (I’m mostly talking about myself here), the following are five things to help jog your memory before going to the movie.
1. Fox Mulder is a believer; he has been ever since his sister, Samantha, was abducted (apparently by aliens) when he was a kid. The main crux of the series at the beginning: find out what happened to Samantha. And after that? Well, there is that whole alien colonization conspiracy thing.
2. Dana Scully is a skeptic. Deeply religious, she was assigned to be “Spooky” Mulder’s partner to expose him as a fraud. But the more she saw, the more she believed. She still always questions everything, but those questions often lead to answers even she can’t explain.
3. The ‘will they or won’t they’ tension that permeated the series came to a head when Scully and Mulder had little boy, William, whom they had to adopt out to protect. There’s nothing like going from ‘Are they going to kiss?’ to ‘Holy crap – Mulder is the father!’ At least, that is what we are led to believe.

4. When last we saw our secondary characters, Skinner was in a closed-door meeting with Deputy Director Kersh (he’s in trouble!), Cigarette Smoking Man (who had been in hiding in New Mexico to avoid the alien colonization scheduled to happen in 2012) was blown up, and Agents Reyes and Dogget were driving off into the sunset with the baddies (thinking they are Scully and Mulder) in hot pursuit.
5. When last we saw our heroes, Scully and Mulder had gone into hiding.
Rumor has it that TheX-Files: I Want to Believe will be a stand-alone monster-of-the-weeksfun-fest. Man… that was a lot of hyphenating. Hopefully, these fivememory-joggers (there I go again) will help in getting the right mind-set(seriously!) for the movie.
Also, I hope it doesn’t suck.

Rachel Bishop, originally from Oregon and currently living in Utah, is a grant writer and consultant for non-profit arts organizations. She hopes to one day renovate an old theatre somewhere and turn it into an art house cinema joint [anyone want to be an investor?]. Rachel has a BA in Theatre and Media Arts and an MFA in Arts Administration. She enjoys movies, writing, photography, chocolate milkshakes, using her label-maker, guacamole, and the Oxford Comma. She has been married for almost seven years to a self- proclaimed Zombie Cinema expert who enjoys the occasional Lego, and is the mother of a 3-year-old Star-Wars freak and a cute little girly-girl who joined the family in January. By the way, it turned out much better for her than it did for Ripley.

I also hope that it doesn’t suck! ::fingers crossed::
I knew I'd be hearing from you re: X-Files.
I had an X-Files weekend that included the new movie, which I'll be writing about. But I will say this – the movie didn't suck, but it wasn't great either. That almost bothers me more than a movie out-and-out sucking…
I know what you mean, T. I still liked it a lot (even if there were some holes), but I think it is in my genetic makeup to love anything X-Files-related. That, or there’s a chip in my head.
I do think they would have done better to release it around Halloween…. about 4 years ago. BUT, I must say that Gillian Anderson. Rocked. It.
