I have fun interviews with some of the cast of Kyle XY and Samurai Girl that I will share later!
It turns out that the line for the Dr. Horrible screening is already closed, even though the screening isn’t until 10:45 - crazy! - so I think we will likely be calling it a day. On the upside, I don’t have to sit through yet another Stargate panel. (Yes, that is AGAIN the panel before Whedon.)
See you tomorrow!

Bryan Fuller was full of jokey good humor at the Entertainment Weekly Showrunners Panel, but when all of the audience questions started going to Darlton, Josh Friedman got in the best line: “I feel like I’m one of the Pips.”
- Josh
4:48 PM
Lots of WWE fanboys at the Samurai Girl panel for Stacy Keibler was…tiresome. Kudos to Samurai Girl Jamie Chung’s response when asked if there would be catfights: “No catfights. These are two warriors who will be battling.”

No news to report from the Atlantis panel, though it is always great to see Kaylee-, er, Jewel… but the Joss Whedon panel was great! The whole cast of Dr. Horrible showed up, along with his brothers. Nathan Fillion revealed that his penis actually is shaped like a hammer, and the Whedon brothers confirmed plans for a Horrible sequel. Longer story about that later.

Stargate: Worlds video game news: You can sign up to BETA test on their website. The game will take place between seasons 8 and 9, and will include major characters from the TV series. It is set to release in early ‘09.
Now for Stargate: Atlantis… with Jewel Staite! After that, the Whedon panel… finally!

Beau Bridges is on Stargate, who knew?
For those of you who watch the series, here is some news that might interest you: SciFi is likely releasing another movie, as well as another TV series, Stargate: Universe. The deals are not set, but it is looking good. Also, they will be releasing Children of the Gods on BluRay recut and remixed.
Despite the fact that I have only seen a few episodes of the series, it was fun to see the cast interplay. Richard Dean Anderson is an interesting fellow. They showed a touching reel of footage of Don Davis as a memorial.
Fun Moment…
Richard Dean Anderson: “They put up with me… for the most part.”
Amanda Tapping: “We got paid to.”
Anderson also sharing an interesting anecdote about experiencing freezing poop while shooting in the Arctic for their movie Stargate: Continuum, which had a premiere on an aircraft carrier yesterday and will release on DVD July 29th.

Funniest moment: Max points at a specific person for a question, saying, “There’s only one of you, sir.” Naturally, someone else immediately starts asking a question from a different area of the room. WTF? Max smiles, let’s the person finish, then: “Interesting question. [He turns away and points at the original guy he'd asked for a question.] What’s yours?” Hilarity ensued.

Max Brooks announces that Paramount just renewed the option on World War Z a few days ago for another year.
Favorite quote so far, from his father, Mel: “The only way to not fail is to be passionate about what you do.”

Awaiting Max Brooks, author of The Zombie Survival Guide and World War Z.
The twenty-something guy next to me starts schooling his two buddies on the rules of Magic: The Gathering. And no one gives them any funny looks. Welcome to SDCC.

Free WiFi! Free Magic Cards! Comic-Con and I are off to a good start!
They are hardcore with the pedestrian enforcement this year. They have guys and gals out there yelling at you if you try to cross when the little red hand is blinking or attempt to sneak around crowds by walking in the street. Go Comic Con safety people!
My plan for the day? Mostly stalking Joss Whedon. You can get my live updates on Twitter: http://twitter.com/jul_weiss, and I should also be popping on and updating this article with any nifty tidbits I learn throughout the day. Unfortunately, stalking The Whedon means sitting through the THREE Stargate panels before his panel. Who knew there was so much to say about Stargate? On the upside, if you like Stargate, I may or may not have interesting news to report later in the day.
Check back later for more updates, or subscribe to my Twitter: http://twitter.com/jul_weiss

Thanks for following my Twitter! It has been a fun experiencing reporting this year - glad to know that someone is listening.
Learned a lot this year. Hopefully things will go even smoother next year… and hopefully you’ll be here too!

I’m glad you went to the Joss Whedon panel…after the Dr. Who/Torchwood panel the thought of waiting in another huge line made me want to run screaming into the night!

I am SO jealous you two got so much Whedon action! Seriously!

shotgundj - Yeah, I HATE the Comic-Con lines - glad it wasn’t as hot as it was last year though. My strategy this year was to pick a room and stay there for most of the day. That way at least I got to watch panels (even if they weren’t ones that I was interested in) instead of just sitting around in line.
Teresa - Yeah… I tend to stalk the Whedon at Comic-Con. It’s always inspiring to hear him talk. I liked his panel last year better because it was just him on stage being all Whedony. But hey, at least this year had two Whedon panels!
