Dear Cindi,

Thank you for the update! I think I understand the whole thing a lot better now.

Poor Jared. For all he is so Tall and Strong, he's really quite delicate in some ways.

Best Regards,

Dear Sylvia,

I know I need to make time to watch the episodes again.

I am so glad I make your job fun!

I do need to move on from Season 1. I have watched some of the episodes so many times I think I know them by heart. :-) But, I don't think I will ever grow tired of viewing them though! Way too much to love. But, I do need to move onto Season 2.

I will still visit your website and comment, even if I haven't seen the episode yet. Of course, I won't comment on the episode but I will have to add my two cents anyway.

Yes, September is way too far away.

I refuse to be spoiled....I avoid them like crazy.

Take care

Ah, I'm back to help out with clarification on the stunt ;-)
According to the interview Jared gave (I think it's on the CW site and it's a video interview, but I am not 100% certain that is where it is), he said that in the scene when the guys come in to kidnap him (the vamps), he was sort of cornered and didn't have room to fall, so he just sort of fell on his wrist. He said it was totally a fluke ;-)
And as he just said in Dallas at the creation con, 'I'm breakable' ;-)
He had just filmed a scene in the Friday the 13th movie where his head is being repeatedly smashed through a window by Jason and when he mentioned after one take that it kind of hurt, the crew assured him it was candy glass. Well, when they washed off the make up, he was bleeding, so he had a small boo boo on his forehead at the con, lol.
He has had rather bad luck with injuries during the run of SPN as well. He broke his hand first season in that infamous off duty bar fight that he and Jensen were accidentally involved with. Also, in Phantom Traveler, when he is scraping the sulphur off the plane part(when he and Dean snuck into the warehouse with the parts of the plane after the accident), he sliced his thumb open because someone gave him the wrong knife (the sharp one, lol.). He told this story in the commentary on the first season DVD.
Yes, mantear, one of the many terms that Supernatural fandom uses that brings a smile to my face ;-) They both cry so well too.

Dear Joan,

Joan, Joan, Joan. Hurry up and watch the episodes, will ya? I enjoy your passion, it makes my job fun.

No, it's not September yet. Not for ages and ages. The suspense is killing me. I refuse to read spoilers, though I've been spoiled a tad. It didn't help.

Best Regards,

Dear Cindy,

I believe you, honest. I hadn't known about Jared telling the story himself which would be, yes, the source! (And what a source!) I'm a bit behind watching "the making of" on the DVDs or reading interviews or watching interviews, so thank you for the clarification. I'll have to check it out as to which stunt in Bloodlust, because ALL this time, I would watch CSPWDT, wincing when Sam/Jared falls in the graveyard, thinking that was the moment. Time to revise my imaginary history, I reckon!

I wish I'd been clever enough to come up with the "mantear" term, but it was roaming around fandom when I got there. It does pretty much sum it up - though someone reminded me that I forgot to mention how crystal green Dean's eyes are in that scene. Which they totally totally were.

Best Regards,

Dear Katie,

You're more than welcome! Thank you for reading.

This might be another sleeper episode, where the brotherly stuff and the angst hides behind a MOW and people forget about it. Plus with the big guns of Season 2 (Heart, BUABS, and AHBL, among others), it gets overlooked. Dean was so pretty here, you're right, it was ridiculous. Sam looked good too - but they did something with Dean this ep, what I have no idea, but he was downright edible.

Best Regards,

Hi Sylvia

You know I can't stay away!

I remember this episode being one of my favorites, from Season 2. It had a little bit of everything.

Plus, our boys really brought it home.

I still want to squee with you so I am going to drop by but I am not going to read the reviews yet.

I have to say it is very difficult because your reviews are so rich and fabulous and always thought provoking.

I love coming here because we all love our Winchester Boys!

Is it September yet?

Oh yes, the infamous arm thing, lol. Well, Jared himself told the story about the stunt in Bloodlust that went wrong, so I guess we have heard it from the source ;-)
He also was the one who pointed out how he had to use his left hand to open the car door in Children.
By the way, I love the 'mantear' reference - those boys do cry so well ;-)

Thankyou for another great review. I'm looking forward to watching this one again now, it's
been a while since I've revisited early season 2 angst-orama and your review has reminded me of all this great episode that often gets overlooked when doing a rewatch. But it really is a great one, with a pitch perfect tone for the mental state the boys are in. The ridiculous levels of pretty doesn't hurt either.

Dear Miss Kitty,

You are MORE than welcome! And I shall. Gladly. This ep was pretty gratifying to write about, overall.

As for Sam's arm (and Jared's arm), I keep hearing different versions, but I really feel for the guy, having to film while in pain. Broken bones are no fun.

Best Regards,

Great review loved it as always. Keep up the good work. ☺
And not to be like a know it all or anything, cause really I just watched the episode, Sam says to Dean as they walk out of the Cemetery "I think she broke my arm" or he said wrist and Dean tells him they'll get it taken care of.

Dear Cindy,

I'd heard so many versions of this story, I didn't know which one to believe! My goal was at least to refer to it because it's obvious that both Jared and Sam had something go horribly wrong there. Your version sounds as likely as any, and yeah, poor Jared. That took some guts on his part not only to keep playing hurt, but also just to remain upright. Broken bones are no fun!

Thanks for letting me know about the wrist and the fact that you enjoyed the review!

Best Regards,

"What's dead should stay dead."

Unless it's YOUR little brother who dies, right, Dean?

Your review was another masterpiece, Syl. I couldn't add a word. Brilliant, incisive and right-on! Love, Robin

I love your reviews! And I am sorry I never comment, but I should ;-)
I do have to correct you on one thing though. Jared didn't break his hand/wrist during the filming of this episode. He broke it while filming the previous episode Bloodlust during the scene when the vamps are waiting for him in the hotel room and a fight ensues and they kidnap him. This has been mentioned in interviews. I am not entirely sure of the exact sequence of events, but Jared has said that he had to film a lot of Children with broken bone, but no cast, because they wrote it into that episode at the last minute and he couldn't wear a cast as Sam until the next episode after Children ;-) Even though Sammy broke it in the graveyard, the episode ends before the character actually gets it taken care of.
Anyway, there is a behind the scenes pic from Children where you can see a brace of some kind on Jared's wrist, so perhaps he was wearing a temporary cast between scenes. But it always makes me wince when I see him carrying the shovel at the end of Children because his wrist is broken there - shame on Dean for making him carry it, lol. And Jared has also mentioned that if you watch the next part where they get in the car, he leans over awkwardly to open the door with the unbroken hand ;-)
Just thought I would point this out since a lot of people seem to confuse Sam's broken wrist incident with Jared's real life one on the show.
