Had right-wing newsies even heard of The Decemberists prior to their appearance at B-Rock’s Portland mega-rally on Sunday?
I mean, this is a band that named itself after the Russian Decemberist Revolt. A band that plays the Russian national anthem at their shows. A band who, in a the “Sixteen Military Wives” video, shows the villain donning an American flag lapel pin.
Surely, it will only be minutes this gets B-Rock branded as a Communist who associates the American flag pin with villainy!
OK, maybe more than a few minutes. Right-wing newsies have to pause their Lee Greenwood cassette and look up The Decemberists on Wikipedia and see what Rolling Stone has to say about their albums.
Now that they sort of know who The Decemberists are (but still don’t understand that a one paragraph album review in Rolling Stone doesn’t lift a band to rock star status), the 75,000 body turn out for B-Rock at Waterfront Park is being attributed in part to the band’s concert.
Newbusters has complained that the rally’s national coverage included no mention of the band’s appearance, and wondered how many people showed up for B-Rock and how many showed up to hear the band.
If U2 had played, that would be a valid question. But, this is an indie band who only recently got attention from a major label. The Decemberists are not superstars.
Right-wing newsies, on the other hand, clearly have no idea what’s going on in music beyond their Lee Greenwood cassettes.

Hahahahahahahahaha!
Wait, so they’re trying to say that The Decemberists lured 75,000 people? In OREGON?!
Hahahahahahahahaahahahahahahaaha!
Hell, I LIKE The Decemberists, but wouldn’t necessarily be lured to see them in concert.
