Presidential Geek Survey Diary – Day 318

The presidential campaign has gone on long enough that someone brought up Nazis.  George Bush is the one who brought in the Nazi comparison, so does that mean his side lost?

In Israel today, Bush said:

“Some seem to believe we should negotiate with terrorists and radicals, as if some ingenious argument will persuade them they have been wrong all along.  As Nazi tanks crossed into Poland in 1939, an American Senator declared: ‘Lord, if only I could have talked to Hitler, all of this might have been avoided.’ We have an obligation to call this what it is — the false comfort of appeasement, which has been repeatedly discredited by history.”

The Huffington Post reports that Bush aides admitted that this was a reference to B-Rock and his willingness to talk before bombing.

Naturally, John McCain and Joe “I’ll Mortgage My Ideals to Get in the White House” Lieberman agree with Bush’s statement.

Democrats from John Kerry to Nancy Pelosi to Howard Dean have condemned Bush’s remarks and Undead Grampers’ support of them.   But, Joe Biden’s comment was my favorite:

“This is bullsh!t.”

Lisa Fary's earliest influences are Princess Leia, Rainbow Bright, Astronaut Barbie, and her 6th grade teacher, Ms. Palmer. She's angry that it's 2011 and she still doesn't have a hovercraft, but will accept a jetpack as consolation. That jetpack had better be pink with a rhinestone monogram.
