The Not So Final Five Cylons

As recently as mid-third season, Ron Moore and David Eick had no idea where they were going with BSG. Presented with photo evidence!

This is Tory Foster, who is known to be a Super Secret Cylon:

This is the first appearance of the Final Five in the season three episode, “Rapture”:

BSG: Rapture

Can someone tell me which of these Final Five cylons is Tory? Looking closely, you can sort of make out Chief, Tigh, and Anders, but no Tory.

Recently, Moore said this about the final cylon:

“There’s no way anyone can figure it out without knowing exactly where we’re going with the final season.”

I call shenanigans on that statement, Ron.  I don’t believe you’ve known where BSG was going since the middle of season two.

Over on Battlestarwiki there’s a comment that *none* of the people in the “Final Five” shots from the first half of season 3 were played by actual actors on the show. They’re just extras. The reason is that they didn’t want spoilers leaking out, they didn’t want to clue in the actors themselves early on (Actors being notorious security risks), and because there wasn’t any point in having the actual actors there - their faces would be all glowed-out anyway, so I’ve gotta’ disagree w/ you here on this one. I *do* solidly agree they were faking it all the way through season 2, though.

I think, like the people from LOST, they really didn’t have any idea where they were going. But BOY was I happy to hear last night that they are bringing 3 back!

The final cylon is only one of several people, IMO:

    Ad. Adama, Starbuck, or Lee.

    Otherwise, who cares????

Also, I think the end of the show will have some message about how earth is already populated by the offspring between Cylons and Humans, and GASP that’s what WE are.

    or something.

  3. Hoobajoobah Says:

Pretty good guess as to where the show is going, Heidi. It’s either that, or an incredibly lengthy set up for an Adam and Eve story where our present society is the offspring of Cylons and Humans. (If so, I’ll be very disappointed. Twilight Zone did that much better, and didn’t take up 5 years of my life )

Can’t be Lee, his entire life is accounted for.

  4. Alpha-Girl Says:

Good point, Hoobajoobah. I missed that in the notes on Battlestarwiki (still think they’re making it up as they go along, though). :)

I’m guessing either Kendra Shaw or Admiral Cain is the final cylon. Moore has said the final cylon isn’t in the Last Supper photo and isn’t one of the primaries. The hybrid in Razor said, “And the fifth, still in shadow, will claw toward the light, hungering for redemption that will only come in the howl of terrible suffering.” I can’t think of any one else who really fits that.

Not sure what Rondom News Table/Unclebear is on about. Ah well. I think one thing is certain: no matter who the final cylon is, it’ll be disappointing.

  7. Rhea Dee Says:

I’m starting to think it might be Admiral Cain or Kendra Shaw as well, especially since Razor counted as the first two episodes of Season 4. That way if it does turn out to be one of them, it all connect in this seamless way…

Yeah. We’ll see how that works out.

  8. Bobby Says:

the final one is the doc.

  9. Lisa Says:

Can I ask Bobby why he thinks its the Doc. You aren’t the first person I know that has said that. If so what a let down. How about Duella or Gaeta…always in the background but important to the story line. Any comments on them being Cyclons.
