And I want to thank you, Jen, for sticking with me this season like you have — I’ve appreciated the feedback and the support!

You're welcome and it's been fun. I'll definitely be back when season 5 starts. I like having at least one place I can post replies to! I know you don't want to spoil people so I wont say much beyond this: I really am looking forward to how they handle [the spoiler you didn't want to mention above], I have a feeling it's going to end up being something like what happened with a certain other character we all know and love. :O)

Okay, I wrote a reply a while ago -- the net must have hiccuped! :( Let's try this again ...

@Valkyrie ~ Aha! Thank you for scratching my mental itch!

@ Jen ~ I totally agree with you on all counts re: the time-travel story thing. I'd rather they didn't do them, and I had the same problems with Moebius, but I knoow Joe loves them, and this one wasn't too bad, so yeah, they should get to write the kinds of stories they want to. :) Well, not that I would expect them to stop on my say-so. ;)

I haven't heard anything one way or the other about Lorne, but I sure hope he'll be recurring next season still!

Time travel plots (especially when combined with AUs) are definitely my "well, if you must," kind of plot - as in I'd really rather they didn't do those plots but I'm not THAT bothered by them. *shrug* This episode didn't really cause as many problems for me as Moebius did (with the thought that our SG1 ended up stuck in the past and what we see after the episode is an AU SG1), but it still isn't an episode I want to think TOO much about or else my brain will hurt. There is the obvious paradox that if John was able to get back there would have been no need for Rodney to leave the message so there for the reality where John went missing stayed in existence and when John went back he created a new and different reality from that point. (Which means that everything bad that happened still happened somewhere). But anyway the writers clearly love this plot line so I figure they deserve to have thier fun with favorite plot lines. (If fanfiction writers can write their favorite plot lines all the time than the writers of the show should get the same oppertunity right?)

I did think it was fun seeing how bad things could get though, and I did like that they brought Jeannie back for a short scene! And I thought the Rodney/Keller thing made sense. And I do think that Rodney would have still tried to find a way to save John even if Keller had lived. The thought of leaving John all alone in the future would have eventually bugged Rodney enough to do something about it. And like Joe M. said he HAD thought it was impossible at first until the ideas occurred to him.

I also loved that it was Lorne who was in charge at the SGC and helped Rodney out after all that time. When Rodney was saying - "I didn't have many friends at the SGC but I only needed one" my first thought was "Lorne?" And I was right! He was awesome in that scene!

That ending though (with the building blowing up) ... My first thought was: "Now that was just MEAN!!!!" MEAN Cliffhanger! It's a damn good thing we know they've started filming and that all the main characters are back for the season. Though I am a bit worried for Lorne... I haven't heard anything about Kavan Smith being back or not, have you?

The episode you were thinking of as a call back to Rodney having a splinter is "Conversion." It's the ep. where Sheppard nearly turned into a giant bug. And we all know how he HATES those things. ;p

After all that’s part of the reason I’m reading Fanfics and god knows they keep using the same plots over and over again, and I’m not afraid to admit that some of the more ‘cliché’ are my favorites ;). So, yeah !

LOL! Aye, same here! :)

This one was the only disturbing one for me, John should have known that Atlantis was not even on this planet back in time… Back in time, Atlantis was at the bottom of the ocean on Lantea… But well, it’s not the first time that the writers seem to forget they’ve changed planet, nevermind ;).

True! Unless he thinks there was a period in Lantean history where the ocean was dried up for a while, but somehow the water came back! XD The writers ought to have put some sort of landmark in the ocean on this world, as a sort of continuity-marker ...

Well, given that everybody dies and that Keller doesn’t work in Atlantis anymore (and that the IOA is stupid), one can only assumes that he never woke up.

Unless keller found a cure before she left, and Carson just went back to Earth. They could have said they made a mistake after all, and found Carson in a POW camp -- it's even half-true! But if Carson didn;t ever get out, I would have liked to have seen them adress that issue -- either have Jophn see Carson inthe stasis chamber, or have Rodney say that, when he came back to Atlantis, he let Carson out like they promised -- and because he didn't want that Stasis tube to take up the power John would need later, particulalry since John would be changing the timeline anyway, so he knew Carson would be alive again, along with everyone else. Well, I guess that's fanfic fodder. :) Gaia knows I have a few ideas brewing from this ep, if I can find the time ....

And see, this is what’s great about Rodney, despite all his bluster, he is and will always be the original naïve character, and I love him even more for that.

Ditto! :D

I love Hewlett’s delivery in this scene, it makes me want to hug him ! Rodney knows it’s just a splinter, and it might not even hurt that bad (although I’ve had splinters hurting more that a broken finger…), but his expression says “please take care of me, please make me feel less alone”, he’s got the face of a child asking for attention.

You know, I hadn't even really considered that, but I think you're totally right about that! :) I bet it's a throwback to his childhood -- like his mother probably doted on him for small things like that whn he was little, but as her marriage grew more and more stranged, ignored him, and he craved the attention and comfort of his toddlerhood ....

Same thinking here, it doesn’t diminish in any way the fact that did fell in love, but as others have pointed, has those events not happened, they might simply just have stayed friends. The close quarters of the Dedalus and the “we’re the last of them” plays a great part.
And all the same, I loved the sweet Rodney scenes and I like to think that the both of them deserved this bit of happiness after all that happened (like you I’m a McShepper, but I can’t deny the boys happiness, even when it’s not with each others ;p)

True, true -- I'm glad Rodney had what he had with her there, and therefore had at least some semblance of a serious relationship in his lifetime, however short it was. But for the primary timeline, I'd rather see them age Harmony up in a time-dilation field. *evil grin*

"Oooh, I love it when they revisit old plotlines and explore new avenues within them! That’s why I never understand why fans get upset when plots are similar — so long as it’s not exactly the same, why not re-use plot devices? We’d run out of stories pretty quick if we didn’t!)"

THANK YOU ! I really don't like it when people complain about that sort of thing because for me, as long as it is well written, they can use the same plot 20 times without a problem.
After all that's part of the reason I'm reading Fanfics and god knows they keep using the same plots over and over again, and I'm not afraid to admit that some of the more 'cliché' are my favorites ;). So, yeah !

"“I was sent back in time??” John asks, incredulous"

This one was the only disturbing one for me, John should have known that Atlantis was not even on this planet back in time... Back in time, Atlantis was at the bottom of the ocean on Lantea... But well, it's not the first time that the writers seem to forget they've changed planet, nevermind ;).

"Hey! Is Carson still there, in stasis himself?? What happens to him in the alternate timeline is never addressed ….)"

Well, given that everybody dies and that Keller doesn't work in Atlantis anymore (and that the IOA is stupid), one can only assumes that he never woke up.

"I guess his discomfort with expressions of affection won out over his crush …. Anyway, this scene hit me harder this time than it did the first time watching it — excuse me while I hunt down some tissue ….)"

O yeah, that scene with Sam is perfect, to see how far they've come is great and the goodbye scene is brilliant. It's like Sam knows she's saying goodbye for the last time while Rodney don't really get that he's never going to see her again (*tears up*). And see, this is what's great about Rodney, despite all his bluster, he is and will always be the original naïve character, and I love him even more for that.

"(Nice suspense — I knew full well that John would make it through, but I couldn’t help but still be anxious!)"

Yeah, we all know that they won't kill Sheppard off, but every single time he (or anyone of the team) is in jeopardy, I can't help but being stressed out ! lol !

"Keller is a little irritated; Rodney points out that it may be just a splinter, but it still really hurts."

I love Hewlett's delivery in this scene, it makes me want to hug him ! Rodney knows it's just a splinter, and it might not even hurt that bad (although I've had splinters hurting more that a broken finger...), but his expression says "please take care of me, please make me feel less alone", he's got the face of a child asking for attention.

"(I can’t shake the sense that it’s a we’re one of the last two left sort of love, bonding over experiences that not many others can really share, but that could just be me. All the same, the soft-eyed looks Rodney gives her make me all melty, and the kiss they share is sad but sweet.)"

This one was the only disturbing one for me, John should have known that Atlantis was not even on this planet back in time… Back in time, Atlantis was at the bottom of the ocean on Lantea… But well, it’s not the first time that the writers seem to forget they’ve changed planet, nevermind .

“Hey! Is Carson still there, in stasis himself?? What happens to him in the alternate timeline is never addressed ….)”

Well, given that everybody dies and that Keller doesn’t work in Atlantis anymore (and that the IOA is stupid), one can only assumes that he never woke up.

“I guess his discomfort with expressions of affection won out over his crush …. Anyway, this scene hit me harder this time than it did the first time watching it — excuse me while I hunt down some tissue ….)”

O yeah, that scene with Sam is perfect, to see how far they’ve come is great and the goodbye scene is brilliant. It’s like Sam knows she’s saying goodbye for the last time while Rodney don’t really get that he’s never going to see her again (*tears up*). And see, this is what’s great about Rodney, despite all his bluster, he is and will always be the original naïve character, and I love him even more for that.

“(Nice suspense — I knew full well that John would make it through, but I couldn’t help but still be anxious!)”

Yeah, we all know that they won’t kill Sheppard off, but every single time he (or anyone of the team) is in jeopardy, I can’t help but being stressed out ! lol !

“Keller is a little irritated; Rodney points out that it may be just a splinter, but it still really hurts.”

“(I can’t shake the sense that it’s a we’re one of the last two left sort of love, bonding over experiences that not many others can really share, but that could just be me. All the same, the soft-eyed looks Rodney gives her make me all melty, and the kiss they share is sad but sweet.)”
