YAY! Awesome review for an awesome episode. I think I agree with just about everything you said as usual. And no I still haven’t figured out what the heck I’m doing with my site. I keep changing things around. It’s definitely going to stay a static site with no blog though – far to easy to mouth off about something with a blog. Hand coding everything take enough time that I calm down and realize there’s no point in ranting.
Anyway, if you go back through some of David’s old twitter posts there are several where he talks about filming this episode and compares it to his time filming Cube.
It’s funny – normally I’m all “yeah yeah whatever,” when it comes to ANY medical stuff on any tv show (I don’t watch shows like ER because I actually end up having no sympathy of most of the cases – unless it’s a child, but then it’s just too sad to watch). (Mainly because of my own medical history and being fed up with the “aw you poor thing!” BS that happens when people hear it – can’t stand pity or even sympathy when its for the wrong reasons), but even I winced in sympathy when I saw Rodney’s bloody hands near the end of the episode… of course he ruined it buy wrapping them up in dirty rags and my “germ phobic” self had to keep from gagging… but still my first thought was “OMG RODNEY! Your HANDS!” And really that whole sequence in the end where he gets everyone down and then goes down himself were my favorite scenes of the episode. YAY for brave, hero Rodney!
I dunno why I still watch ER — I’m very squeamish about other people’s injuries! LOL But I’ve had bad rope burn before, so Rodney’s hands hit me especially hard — it hurts so bad, the slightest movement of the skin is pure agony! (Well, maybe I’m just a whimp.)Since he’s a germophobe too, I imagine he was none too happy about being so dirty all around, poor guy!
And no worries about your site — it’s *your* site, after all!
I’m always changing my layouts, myself — just changed the hub site layout, on a whim, a week or so ago. (As if I didn’t have other things I should be doing. XD)
Hands tend to hurt badly because there are so many nerve endings in the skin there. So I do have more sympathy for people who have hurt their hands and wouldn’t call them a wimp for it. Now granted if they kept complaining I’d probably snap at them to take a pain pill and shut up already… but still… ;O)
I had to laugh at Sam breaking her leg though when she did. Honestly they all should have had MUCH more serious injuries when they fell the first time. Especially Sam and Keller who fell head first… if any of them hadn’t been a regular or recurring character someone would have died.
Rodney’s injury seemed more real because of the way it was set up – it happened because of the way he had to hold the rope when Keller fell out the door. Sam’s injury happened long after is should have happened.
Excellent review. This episode blew my mind. It was so well executed, and it all took place in a single room.
I was really excited to see the girl from firefly have some lines she could work with well. Her early acting on the show felt very stiff, but this one was funny, almost in the way she was funny on firefly.
Once again great review!
