Presidential Geek Survey Diary – Day 182
Prominent Hillary Clinton supporter Governor Ted Strickland of Ohio said Iowa doesn’t deserve its prominence in the presidential elections – a statement that has sent the Clinton campaign into a motherly attempt to reassure Iowa that it is unique and special and the pretty girls are just jealous because Iowa is so smart. Boys really will ask you out once you get to college, Iowa. And your acne will clear up, too.
Strickland said the Iowa caucuses are “hugely undemocratic because the process excludes so many people. Anyone who happens to be working or is sick or too old to get out for a few hours Thursday night won’t be able to participate.”
He also said Iowa “is not a representative state and the caucus is not a fair way to register public opinion.”

Not even Iowa’s weather was safe from the Ohio governor. “Iowa is not an attractive place to be in the wintertime,” he said.
The Clinton campaign issued the following statement: “Sen. Clinton believes that Iowa and New Hampshire play a unique and special role in the nominating process, and that process should be protected.”
Surely responding to the Geek Survey wouldn’t threaten Iowa’s delicate self-esteem.
