Alien Ant Farm

ThinkGeek.com
Space Age Ant HabitatYeah, we know. Ants are gross. Especially those tiny ones that swarm up out of the earth, stream in through the crack at the bottom of the door, and proceed to take over the cat’s food bowl.

Even so, I still want one of these. It’s an ant farm, designed by NASA. Seems that in 2003 they sent something like this up on the Space Shuttle, thereby creating the world’s first official “antronauts.” The gel is a nutrient-rich concoction that both feeds the ants, and provides them plenty of tunneling opportunities. Not only that, but you can use the AntWork Space Age Ant Habitat as a nightlight, as it’s got four LED lights built in to the base.

It sells for $29.99 at ThinkGeek.com
